18x9 on a 1g

I've seen quite a few threads about fitting 18x9 wheels on a 2g, but is it possible to fit them onto a 1g? If so, what offset and tire size would be recommended for good fitment?

Currently, I run 18x8.5's on my 1g with I believe a +38 offset, with 225/40/18 RT-615K's, however, I am looking at a new set of wheels with Star Spec's.

The best offset for a 9" wide wheel on a 1g is going to be +27. I have no clue what you would have to modify (rolling fenders, suspension clearancing issues, etc) to make it fit though.
