I want to run 18x8.5 rims with 225/40-18 rubber. Just want to know if anybody rubs with this. I also plan to drop it 1.3". What do y'all think of that?

offset IS key here but wither way you are still gonna rub. I have 18 X 7.5 with 235/40/r18 tires and i still rub. Im going down to 225/40/R18 next but im running on low tread and no sidewall at that point.

Damn my 18's look sick tho!!!

8.5 is awfully wide for a 225, any reason you're putting such a wide wheel on the car with such skinny tires?

im not sure what youre saying, are you saying you want the "stretched" tire look?

225 on an 8.5" rim is kinda thing indeed

An 8.5 inch wheel is well within the specs of any 225/40/18 tire that I am familiar with. Actually, this tire will perform better on that wheel than the 7-inch wheels that most people would put them on. Stay close to +45mm offset for less concern about fender rub. Move out to +40mm if you think you might ever want to run 235's or wider.

Have this setup on my car now, actually i lowered my car even more then 1.3. I have the sportline kit on my car running 8x8.5 and for 3 years i ran 225 40x18 with never rubbing once. The offset of the wheel is 43mm. Now, i current am running a 235 40x18, and i did run into rubbing issues so i had my rear fenders rolled. Still rubs a little, but not nearly as bad.

As said previously, offset is a very key here.

I just put the rims on yesterday. No probs, no rub'n. I haven't dropped it yet though. I have the Tein S-Tech springs, but have to wait till I get my new stabilizer links in. I'll have pics later tonite. Looks pretty good, but needs to be lowered.... bad!!! I don't know how to till the off set of the rim, but there's no probs.....as of yet. I'll keep y'all posted. Thanx for all the responses.
