I think I might be looking to buy some new wheels sometime soon and after seeing the pics of Flash's car in the Hangout I really like this style wheel on a 2G. I however am a poor bastard and Work's are out of my price range. I drive my car everyday but it never sees hard turns so big tire size is not a factor for me. I would like the wheels and tires to sit flush with my fenders. I am currently lowered with H&R Sport springs and KYB GR2's but may be switching to Eibach Pro Kit's with Tokico Illuminas. Now at the site I'm looking at they have 17x8 Torques listed with 3 different offsets, 35, 47, and 48. Which offset do I need for my car? What size tire will be flush with the wheels or maybe with a slight bulge and give me no rubbing problems. I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

none of those would really work our stock wheels are 16x6 with a 46mm offset. With a 47 or 48mm your pushing in your wheels 1 or 2 mm respectively, so it wont sit flush with your fenders. Also you wil be adding 1" to the inside (1" to the outside as well) you have a chance of rubbing your control arm depending on your tires. As for the 35mm i have 17x8 with a 35mm offset, and in the front they stick out about 1/8" past the fender and in the back they are flush with the fender. However if you get these you will need to roll your fender for it wont rub against them.

For 8" wide wheels you need about a 43-40mm offset to set flush in the front and good in the back. Your other option is is to get 5mm spacers and get the 47mm offset. This will make them like a 42mm offset which would be great for you. However, if you do this you would want to invest in longer studs and "tuner" lugs for safety reasons.

Thanks for your help. It looks like on the Rota website they have some different size listings. They list a 17x7.5 with a 45 offset, maybe a small spacer and these would work? Damnnit, why can't anyone make nice looking wheels that fit our cars?

Hey, get the 17x8! Don't get no 17x7.5, they are cheap enough already. Get more for your money. Also I run a 37mm offset. The 35mm should be fine, it'll be "hella flush" for an eclipse if I'm not wrong. You can also get the 47mm but run the spacer like someone said.

Ditto goes for the longer wheels studs and nuts. Also get good tires instead of the 'on sale special all weather goodness' tires.

I like my cheapo tires, they spin so I don't break things. Anyone have some pics of 17x8 wheels with a 35 offset?

i can take pics later of my dirty wheels yet they are 17x8 with a 35mm offset

EDIT: this is the best pic i can find on my pc of the front wheels on how they stick out ( i ususally take pics of the font wheels angled). As you can see if you have a lowered car you would need to roll the fenders (front and back depending how lowered your car is) with a 17x8 35mm offset

Hey those 35mm iffset don't look bad. You have real lip on a flat face rim.

i plan on Tein H-tech (.9-1" drop from what i have read) and some tokico blues. The reason for such a small drop is so i dont have to roll my fenders alot. I am not looking for a great setup, just one good enough for sprinted driving and some light canyon carving
