i wanted to know what i will all need for a 16g setup in my laser auto.
the turbo, exhaust manifold, 550cc injectors, walhbro 255 fuel pump, afpr, fuel rail, is there anything else i would have to get? should i swap out my exhaust? what about upping to a fmic and a vent to air bov?

I wouldn't waste my time with an aftermarket fuel rail. The factory one will do just fine. I'd probably go with a 2g maf and a fuel pump rewire if it's a 1g. I had the same setup and had it tuned on an safcII and it was an all around blast to drive. Good luck!

Oh and I forgot an aftermarket exhaust also

whats a safc? shouldnt i just buy a fuel pump instead of a rewire?
or do you mean do the rewire to the 255lph?

a safc is a tuning device, which you can use to compensate for the larger injectors. I would look into ECMlink. you will also need a wb02. Also you do not want a BOV that vents to the atmosphere. Get something that re-circulates. Also looking into getting a FMIC would be smart, seeing how the stock smic is limited on what it can handle.

okay rite now im running the stock 13g on a 5speed non eprom. i have a auto eprom but it has leaking caps. should i just rebuild and go with the ecm link? and whats the purpose of the wideband o2? also would it be better to vent to the atmoshpere or just keep the recirculating bov? i heard vent to air causes cars to run rich

Or you could run ecmlink LOL that works to just my two cents

Sorry if that was confusing I meant go with a 255 and get the rewire kit for it.

if going with a 255lph pump you would also need a afpr. id you don't want to spend any more money then go with a 190lph pump and rewire it.

Yes the airflow is better on a 2g, i never saw a afpr that cheap, but you will need one if you get a wally 255.

You don't need an exhaust manifold, even the 1g manifold is pretty decent. A 2g manifold flows a lot better though and you can pick them up for as little as $20, on the setup you're looking at I wouldn't go anything bigger than a 2g manifold.

550cc injectors should do fine unless you intend to push the setup.

Walbro 255lph and a rewire are always a good idea. Getting a 255lph doesn't get rid of the advantage of a rewire. Read about it here Fuel pump rewire

If you get a 255lph I highly recommend getting a real fpr. I see too many issues with the generic FPR's for cheap, mainly with fuel pressure inconsistencies. I'd recommend just spending the extra money and getting an aeromotive FPR, imo they're the best bang for the buck. Yeah they're $170 but they're great. My buddy's fuel lab FPR for some reason leaked air out of the adjustment screw brand new when we boost leak tested his civic. I've had 2 aeromotives and they each worked perfect and I have no complaints.

Do you have an exhaust now? If not yes you'll want one, at least a full 2.5" exhaust, but preferably a 3" catback, and a downpipe.

With that you'll also probably want a new o2 housing, I haven't checked in awhile but Punishment Racing makes a good o2 housing, I bought mine for $170 brand new and it worked great. This isn't really a necessity but with a full exhaust/downpipe, the stock o2 housing is known for boost creep. In fact my stock 1g turbo AWD i DD has a full exhaust and stock o2 housing and it creeps bad from 14psi->18psi

FMIC would be a smart upgrade for this setup if you want to make real power. You can buy a ebay core for cheap and make your own piping and have a good FMIC setup for around $150. If you want a full bolt on kit, VRSF makes a great kit for a good price: _p_VRSF 1G Front Mount Intercooler Kit : 1G DSM_/p_

You will also need a J pipe for the FMIC, since the mitsu turbos like this outlets face up, so you pretty much always need a 16g J pipe unless you're running the stock sidemount.

Don't even bother with the bov if you're on a budget.
The 1g stock bov is great for what it is. The only upgrade I would go to is a Tial.
My laser was at 500whp on my 1g bov and it was great, but I did upgrade to a Tial eventually.

I would highly recommend running a 2g MAF, they're just overall better and have much more capabilities than a 1g MAF. a GM maf is a possibility too, but I honestly either prefer 2g MAF or Speed Density.

For tuning, always I'll highly recommend DSMLink, I loved v3 lite on my 325whp talon 20g setup. I didn't know anything about tuning when I got it and before long I went from running 13.6's at 15psi on a chip to running 12.7@107mph tuned by myself, to running traps of 113mph(never got to do a good run at that time since I had to skip 2nd gear due to bad shift fork)

I understand DSMLink though adds about $500-600 on top of a build, so an SAFC would be acceptable for your setup as well. Many people talk down SAFC's these days but they're still an acceptable cheap tuning solution however there's just so much less you can do with one. There's also I believe someone in the freelancer section of the forums selling pre-set mapped chips which I ran in my talon at one time and they work great if you aren't interested in tuning yourself.

Anyway, if you do everything I went over and picked up v3 lite, you could easily see 300whp+ with proper tuning. I'm not sure how far the 550cc's could go, I had 650's and my duty cycle was getting to be around 95% by the time I was trapping 113, but only around 85% at the 325whp level.

Sounds like we need to do a little more research.
