So I bought the b16g turbo with install. After installation I went for a test drive and had something like boost spike or fuel cut. Scared the crap out of me felt like my engine went out but I got off the gas and seemed okay. I think I hooked up the waste gate wrong there is just a line to the stock bcs to the waste gate. Is this my problem and if so how do I route the lines so I can get rid of my problem? Can anyone show me pics with a manual boost controller on a 2g with a b16g upgrade?

Keep in mind what the RRE chart says about your octane and how that will affect your boost, as long as your using the bcs you should be safe running premium anywhere in the country but if you only have 91 octane thats about as far as you go. It also matters if you take your car somewhere else that only has 91 octane. Just something to keep in mind when you hook up your manual boost controller.

Also, besides a logger your next upgrade is probably going to be some sort of fuel pump, they are relatively inexpensive if you have modest goals. A Warlboro 190 or evo 9 fuel pump are great investments and pretty manageable. I chose the evo9 pump because it is cheaper and flows better than the 190 without any hint of a whining noise and I bought it for $30 shipped. Either of these pumps should be plenty to reach the limits of your b16g.

I searched the classifieds every day for "fuel pump" until I found one. I also signed up to several evolution forums and searched their classifieds and it just happened that I found it here but it is usually easier to get one off of their forums. Keep in mind that there are possibly three options when it comes to evolution pumps in a 2g (1gs have a slightly different style pump) the evo8 fuel pump will be the most common and it flows better than a warlboro 190 and not quite as well as a 255, but the problem with them is that they have a pressure relief valve opens at the sort of fuel pressure that you might find if you were running around 20-25psi (I forget exactly at which fuel pressure it opens at) which creates a brick wall for higher performance. The evo9 pump flows about the same as the evo8 pump but is superior in that it does not have this relief valve so it can offer a higher level of performance. The evoX pump is something that I understand may fit into a 2g but I don't have any information on it since I bought my fuel pump before these were widely available, you should do some research as these pumps may great for our purposes and should be becoming cheap and common with very little driving time on them *again* do some research on this pump if you get the chance since I have no information on it.

Good luck.

BTW, the general consensus is that with an evo8/9 pump you will generally need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to properly control fuel pressure which makes them slightly less budget friendly however I have run mine for about 4k miles and have yet to have any overrun problems so YMMV. I do plan on getting an afpr in the near future but since my car is only kind of a daily driver I don't worry about it very much.

Thankyou so much for all your help you have been more than enough themork. This is my third DSM since I was 16 years old. Now that I am 22 and nearing my completion in school I have a little extra cash to spend currently I am running a 98 gst with intake, hardpipe, blow off valve, downpipe cat with cat-back exhaust. The 16g upgrade was something my friends who are DSMers always talked about so I finally forked out the cash. Besides my little boost incident my car has been running great. The 16g turbo actually made my car run better. My garrett t25 always seemed to work its heart out just to produce enough boost to move the car. My 16g on the other hand has higher capabilities that I plan to enhance in the future. I will start research on the fuel pump. I plan on keeping my car as a daily driver so I have been upgrading things that will enhance the cars natural horsepower while keeping it reliable. again thanks for you help
