ok trashing the 14b... My best time I ran with my mods (minimal) and sotck t-25 was a 14.85, I put a ported 14b in and ended up gained 3 secs. For the money you can go run. You can boost more on a 14b and it has better top end power. For the money, 14b has a lot of potential.

So you run an 11.85 now??? :p ( jk )

From what most people have said who have experience with the swap ( those of you who do not have the 14b swapped out for the 2G T25 are just blowing hot air, just like you turbo ;) ) it is definitely worth it. Its not the big horsepower maker like a 50 trim PTE, but it is a good step in that direction. The factory T25 is not worth anything at all, Mitsubishi should have stuck with the 14b instead of cheaping out. ( And sticking us with the boogey man crankwalk OMG , btw, my 1G AWD 6 bolt had 3/8 inch endplay, so crankwalk is overrated and can happen to anyone, if that makes any sense, I just have really crappy luck  ) My T25 is going to be a paper weight soon, so hello ported 14b, bye bye T-supercrappyhotairnotopend-25!!! :shhh:

i just installed a 14b 2 weeks ago. i was lucky enough to have one laying around when i blew my t25. let me tell ya what. first things first, you don't need an exspensive install kit. you just need a j-pipe, lower ic pipe (or home make one) and get a braided oil feed line. now, all i can say there is a night and day difference. my car is running like crap with a bad o2 sensor and i still love this turbo. i have my boost controller set out all the way, aroune .5 bar (7psi) and it pulls just as hard as my t25 did at 15psi. it is a little more laggy but for us fwd guys, i have no problem with that. Let's put it this way, i haven't had a need to crank up the boost cuz i'm perfectly happy at 7psi. soon as i get the new o2 sensor i'll turn it up ofcourse, just the fact it will hold boost all the way to high rpm makes this turbo so much faster to me. Definately worth the upgrade, people with 16g's are just jealous cuz we get comperable performance, and when we get tired of this turbo, we won't move up to a 16g, it'll be somthing like a 20g. IMO this turbo is great for building up supporting mods around it that will make you ready for a big time turbo, and have fun on the way.

Its all there. Look at the difference in the turbine size between the T25 and the 14B. And the fact that the same turbine is used for both the small and large 16G and the 14B. I can get one pretty cheap, get it rebuild and clipped, buy an overpriced 2G install kit for about the same price as a big 16G. ( If I get the 16G , I still need the kit. )

Here's my experience to date:

2g - did the stage 1 mods, free intake mod with kn style filter, Dave Brode UICP with 1g BOV (BEST upgrade and cheapest by far), 3" turbo back exhaust with 3" magna flow cat.

With my T25 in first when I jumped on the gas at 2k when I hit 4k I would spin my wheels until about 6k when the t25 ran out of steam. Running 14 lb boost with SBC.

Installed ported 14b, ported exhaust manifold, ported O2 housing homebrew LICP and MBC.
Running about 16 lbs boost. With this setup when I jump on it at 2k in first, when it hits 4k there is no wheel spin (thought porting was supposed to make it more responsive?) but the 14b keeps pulling up to and past redline.

Late edition - my waste gate was not staying closed - fixed that now the 14b spins up like my t25 but out pulls it by a long shot!
