There's no better place to spend a weekend, than in the garage swapping turbos. I didnt run into a single problem with installation. It almost scared me that it was a surprisingly smooth process. :thumb:

Unfortunately, I'm waiting for my polished WG actunator to come in the mail. As soon as it does, the car will be ready to go. I'm hoping to feel a really big difference. Especially in the 5K-redline range. I should have it by mid-week, and I'll post results.

I got the J-pipe off of eBay. The seller said it was a Dejon Tool. I paid $43. There is another one on there right now if you're interested.

Man from the side it look like a humoungous turbo. Then you see the gap between the j-pipe and the turbo.

Nice clean install man.
 
is the j-pipe the only pipe u need to install the 14-b with? i'm still on the stock sidemount w/ hardpipes.

This paticular j-pipe make the turbo a down-firing turbo. It would work for you, but you would also need a silicone 90 degree elbow to connect the piping. This stuff isnt cheap either.... They do make pipes that are meant to be used with stock side-mounts, that dont require an expensive 90 degree elbow. :dsm:
 
I also did the 14b swap and it made an awesome difference before my engine blew LOL

But yeah the swap was actually REALLY easy - I would have had it done in 1 day if i had all the parts when i started but i didnt .

It was cake taking off , i just ripped shit and cut crap - Putting it in was the only hard part ### i lifted it up and into the bay, so i had to bribe my lil brother with a beer to get him to help me by screwing in the studs to hold the engine up....


Man holding that 20lbs Turb up there seemed like an eternity for my skinny ass hahaha
 
the pics dont do the polish job any justice. i seen it when i stopped by to pick up a tranny, the whole car looks nice!!
 
Looks good, I'm sure you will be happy with the gains from going to the 14b, it's like a whole new car afterwards. (i.e. power above 5500rpm) Let us know how you like it.

Yeah, I smashed my stock side-mount about 2 years ago, and my insurance wrote me a check for like $600, so naturally I bought a FMIC instead of another stocker.....

I refuse to pay for anything other than what I really want. The 14b was free, and if I find a free 16g, i'll put it on it. But I'll pay for my 50 trim when I save enough pennies....
