whats up guys.. well i just bought a 14b with lil shaft play for $127 for my 97 gst because i heard its a good upgrade for beginners like me. I also notice that i also need a 2g install kit which i also planning on buying from ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mits...2QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ), what i want to know is, is that 2g kit a knockoff? because someone refer me too the RRE kits fot $195 or $325 but those are way more expensives so does it really matter if i go with the ebay 2gkit??. Would i also need to upgrade my fuel pump to a 190 or 255?? Would my stock injectors work fine with the 14b?? is my stock intercooler ok for the 14b? i also want to run about 13-14 psi of boost so a manuel boost control would be find rite?? my car is a daily driver and i just want a some more boost for now well just to open the gap more from all these vw VR6 in my neighborhood LOL.. .... Well if theres anything else u think that might be really useful for me i would really appreciate it.. Later

Ya you'll need a mbc to run that 13-14 psi, all your stock fuel parts will be compatible with that level of boost. You wont need a new fuel pump now, and your intercooler will work okay. When raising the boost, get a boost gauge too.

well i just bought a 14b with lil shaft play

How much is a "lil"? Are we talking millimeters or nanometers here? Are the compressor blades rubbing the housing? Is it leaking oil? A little shaft play could quickly turn into a destroyed turbo in little time.

is that 2g kit a knockoff?

No. Turbochargers.com is a fairly reputable company. I don't know about the quality of their kit, however. It doesn't include water lines, so you'll have to reuse your stock ones. It also doesn't include an L-pipe to connect to the J-pipe, so you'll have to fabricate one yourself or reuse your stock LICP in some way. The RRE hacker/tweaker kit is the same price, but includes the L-pipe with the J-pipe. It doesn't come with a new oil drain pipe, but they assume that you can file the bolt holes closer to make it work. The full kit makes installation a breeze.

Would i also need to upgrade my fuel pump to a 190 or 255??

Not immediately. Rewiring your stock pump probably wouldn't hurt, though.

Would my stock injectors work fine with the 14b?? is my stock intercooler ok for the 14b?

Yes and Yes.

i also want to run about 13-14 psi of boost so a manuel boost control would be find rite??

On the stock BCS, you'll probably run at about 7-9 psi. If you choose to get an MBC and are still running the stock fuel system, you should be very happy at about 11-12 psi as a daily driver. Without an aftermarket boost gauge and 1g/aftermarket BOV (which you'll be recirculating), don't even think about changing the boost level.

Other suggestions: Get a boost gauge. Get a datalogger. Do a boost leak test after installing the turbo. Use spellcheck in your posts.

Well i thought all these 14b's have a lil play because thier so old. It came out of a 93gsx with 92k almost stock( i seen the car) he said the car drove perfect , the turbo spool at 3000rpm , and the reason for selling is because the seller just bought the 06 evo. he sold the gsx engine for 1200w/o 14b and sold shell for $600 i believe. i bargain with him about the turbo and got it down to 127 from his 165. I had someone who knows about turbo took a look at it and say it look like its in great condition and have no cracks. So hopefully i hope its really true but im willing to take the risk, this is just an experience for me for future bigger upgrade. ok with that said. I already have an aftermakert boost guage not install, greddy type rs bov with recirculater with upper and lower hard pipes with greddy flange not installed. apexi N1 catback not installed. So the best thing in my case is to just get the full 2g install kit from RRE . Spellcheck LOL. This isnt english class so i dont care LOL.

Oh yea i almost forgot Thanks for the advice. It was really helpfull. Is there anything else i should know and just to make sure? If so pleased do tell me.

Spelling is a big factor on these forums, If you read the rules you would see that they dont want people in hear who cant spell or use capitals. If you havnt read the Rules please do. You'll definitly like this place, You get alot of help on here.

I spoke to the seller again and he told me that its very lil play from side to side other than that the turbo is almost in mint condition. He also said I can always return it back and get all my money back just as long i dont install it.

You can look into a rewire but at that boost level you will be fine without one. The stock fuel system as a whole will be fine. You can push the boost a little higher but i would recomend an s-afc. You should be happy with it. You can make 250 fwhp with that turbo on a stock fuel system.
