14b bearings in a 16g turbo????? can it be done>>??

Okay I have a 14b thats in near perfect condition except something ate the compressor wheel up pretty bad. And a 16g that has small amount of shaft play and leaks oil into the exhaust.

I know the 16g wheel and housing can't be mounted on the 14b because of the back of the wheel. Can I use the bearings out of the 14b to "rebuild" the 16g cartridge??

Yes it is very possible. my TD05H-14B has been converted to a 16G wheel and it works great! The biggest wheel that can be stuffed into it is the wheel from a Supra turbo..
Performance Techniques in San bernardin does it for $400.00 all day. They also convert the T-25 to the T28....These guys are the shit!

It takes 2 days to complete the rebuild and conversion so if you send it you should get it back in about a week.

That answer would have been good if I wanted to know if I could upgrade the 16g. But in my case it was as useful as "search".



I want to know can the bearings/seals from the 14b be used in the 16g cartridge, as in I am going to replace them, and instead of buying a rebuild kit just use the bearings that are here...

But thats okay due to the overwhealming and incredibly normal lack of response I am goig to just try it and see for myself if it work the hit or miss way.

Yes, they share the same center section and thrust bearing and o-rings. The difference is the center cap has a different profile to match the back side of the 16G wheel.

Bearings from a 14b fit into my 16g.Not sure if theres differences in year models and what not but it worked fine in mine.
