1G 100a fuse keeps popping

i recently rebuilt my 91 gsx.. every time i turn my car on to acc, the 100a fuse in the engine bay blows instantly... i lost the cover to the fuse box,what is this fuse for? is this why my car wont start and what can i do to fix it? please help!
 
check your battery terminals , they mught be corroded..also the battery might be messed up..get it checked ...i had this exact problem on my 90 tsi and 91 gsx

Either that or you could have one hell of an electrical short. But start easy inspect that battery and go from there. I would have some sit in the car and you look under the hood to see if you can hear or see anything. More than likely if your blowin the 100amp youll def see some sparks and could possible pin point where its coming from.
