#1 cyl missfire... HELP!!!

ok, the car idles like s*^%, and acceleration down low in 1, 2, and 3 is very jerky... power kind of surges. Now mind you this is casual driving. I put the power down, its hardly noticable. i have a CEL, and the code brought back #1 missfire. so... whats up???

Check #1 cylinder spark plug, wires.

Check the coil too, while you're at it.

plug appeared "lazed" cleaned it with a brush wheel, no real noticible difference, thought about plugs and wires... but if it was the coil, wouldnt i get get missfires on 2 clys?

I had the same problem. Code "misfire #1" checked coils and injectors OK. Replaced plugs and put on Magnacor wires. thought I had a new car.

yea... my first plan was NGK irridum and magnacore 8mm.
after that, not sure, i have a minor fuel problem now, but thats another story, this is actually causeing damage, and a lot of aggravation!:thumbdown

I think the wires were the problem, cause the plugs looked ok.I put in Bosch platinum+4 cause they were the best I could get locally. I still had an intermitent miss. when ipulled the plugs i found the Bosch were about 1/4" shorter than the stock NGK's and the wires were not making good contact on the plug. So i've got stock NGK's in it now. Try wires first.

well i got ngk irridums, and 7mm wires,she runs real strong now, and smoother then ever before, thanks everybody.
