Hi everybody!

I found your site through one of your members in the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills area. We were playing a bit but there was too much trafic to really run.

Oh well, the guy was cool and had a gorgeous talon.

I currently own a 2003 GTI 1.8t. It is slightly modded and my current best is 14.6@97. I can answer any q's if you are curious. OMG

I just want to learn a bit about your cars and may build a project car in the future. I also own a Mitsu Galant :dsm: Not that it qualifies as a DSM.

You guy have lots of rules. I need to read them so I don't get banned. I hope my sig is okay.

Thanks. I was going to get a vr6 until I saw the 20th.

Any mods?

My friend has a quick 01 1.8T. We actually worked on it today.
Do you have: chip, NJ75 race valve, TIP, IC piping, boost controller? He has those things and beats EVO's with bad drivers. :p

I have seen STI's run 14.7s with a bad driver. So I believe it could happen.

But reality is he has a low to mid 14 second car with that setup. I have a chip, intake, turboback, FMIC, N75J as well btw. I have a MBC as well but it screws up the daily driving.

I also have suspension and motor mounts which helps a lot off the line. FWD and torque = wicked wheel hop without it.

Not to be a bi***, but I think the sig needs to be within 250x250 pixels. I really like your sig though. My friend and his brother are into VW's. My friend has a '99 Jetta VR6 with a full suspension and his brother has a '03 GTI 1.8T with some goodies I think he runs like a 14.7.

welcome.. i almost bought one of those 1.8Ts just because like our dsms they have so much potential

Dude, It takes a minimum of $8ooo to hit hit high 12s without Nitrous.

Only one MKIV 1.8t was in the 11s and they had a stage III turbo kit and nitrous. Don't talk to me about potential, These cars are slow when it comes to 1/4 runs. A DSM will run rings around my car for much less.

wow way to be an ass... i was meaning that they are so detuned from the factory... ive seen the options and know what they cost to mod.. the 1.8T motor is a very strong motor.. i know you have chips that you can plug in and get 30hp

Interesting to have the DSM guy defending VW's and the VW guy defending DSM's. Anyway, welcome to the site :).

Not trying to be an ass but I am really disappointed with my car right now.

I am chipped, (GIAC) I have a full 3" GHL turboback, 3" intake, FMIC, and it still only gained me about 45hp. The problem is these cars are heavy and the FWD has big problems hooking up.

What my car does do well is have a great interior and handling. It's build quality is great and everyone complements the overall looks of the car.

But I want to go faster dammit. :(

Here are some random pics of my car and some other dubs. Some of the pics are there to document the accident where some uninsured bastard hit me and others are from when I installed the FMIC.

I have better pics but I need to shrink them and throw them on my server.

im going to the Volkswagen Academy in Rancho Cucamonga, CA on october 18th 04 only 11 weeks + one week break for xmas...we'll see how that goes

im very impressed with my VR6 (stock and automatic) ;)

You are lucky to get to learn that stuff.

Quality cars they are. Fast cars they are not. I love my GTI and would never sell it but I realize putting money into it to make it faster is a waste.

I am currently looking for a project car to build.

I am a "previous" vw owner, and all I can tell you is that the VWs handle very well, but really are not fast at all unless you dump quite a bit of $$$$ into them. The last car I modded was an 02 GTi 1.8T that my buddy owns. We did GT28r turbo, ATP big FMIC kit, custom intake w/ 3" MAF housing, 3" DP/Cat and 2.5" cat back exhaust, REVO Big turbo program, full H&R suspension package, and walbro 255 with 440cc injectors. He controls boost via. Greddy E-01. Runs 20 psi and honestly is it pretty fast, but my dsm with the same amount of $$ into it, cleans its clock. Cool thing about the Gti is that is rides a lot better than my GSX and is a lot more comfortable to go out of town in. That might be because it is 14 years newer though. ;) Oh, and the worst thing about a VW is that they ALWAYS need to go to the shop to have codes checked/cleared, etc. when you mod them past a chip/intake, exhaust.
