1.8l dies

I just got a 1.8l 1g a few days ago. I was driving today and came to a stop sign so i slow down and push the clutch in and it stalls, so I try to restart it and it starts and then dies unless i give it gas to keep it alive. I put a new battery and spark plugs in and it turns over strong so i don't think its an electrical problem.
Ever since i got the car when i started it up, it would go up to high idle, then drop down a little under normal idle rpm, then bring itself back up.
What should i look for first, fuel filter or idle air motor?

im not to sure about the 1.8 but if you have an idle air motor, that would be the first thing i look at, if you have a MAF then diconect it and if it runs better but with high idle then theres your problem

my friend has this same problem inhis toyota MR2 JDM3sge motor...we couldnt figure out wht it was well then we looked to raise up the idle witht eh screw and the screw was broken so take a look at that and see if your idle screw it broken

Today i changed the fuel filter, that wasn't the problem.
So i figured what the hell, its a 500 dollars car, so i saw that the idle screw was backed out all the way and i turned it in just a little bit and it seems to run ok now, and it still idles at around 800 rpm.

Sounds like you're missing the same O ring 4G63Ts lose.
