i have a 93 with a 1.8:notgood: and i was wanting to do a 4g63t swap.. i have all the stuff, but some people told me that i cant do it because the subframe would crack or some bs like that WTF...i say they dont know what there talking about but could be wrong..has anybody done the swap or know if this is true..would really help out thanks.

I don't think the frame would crack because I believe it's the same for a 1.8 as it is for the 2.0t. Don't quote me on that though, either way, I've learned not to talk cars with people who don't know about cars, cause you'll just end up getting frustrated, LOL, especially when you tell them it doesn't hurt anything to remove certain vacuum lines.

The car body in which the 1.8 motor is installed in, is what's called a "D-21" chassis - smaller brakes, lighter frame, smaller (14") wheels..economy mode chassis.

NT's and Turbos use the "D-22" chassis of larger brakes for 16inch wheels along with the larger and more powerful motor of each.

You find this chassis number on the "DSM" sticker located on the firewall which also identifies the model, motor, transmission, paint code, etc...

Also, doing the turbo, you gotta change out the entire electrical harness, add the F5M33 transmission that uses the heavier and larger clutch of the turbo motor...

..lotsa work and moolah you're gonna get into. Yet, heard of 4G37 to 4G63T conversions that was successfully accomplished.

If your vehicle happens to be a "D-22" chassis, you're halfway there.

Yas gotta be a hardcore DSM lover to want to go to that extreme.
