I didn't have receipts, but I did get some extra money for the stereo. I'm pretty sure it will vary with the insurance company.

Personally I wouldn't recommend a used MB. I've seen a lot of electrical issues, and problems with leaks. You don't want a money pit for your daily driver too! The ES300 would be nice. You should look at late 90's Accords and Camrys too.

i like those sc's a lot.
But they are v8 and im looking for something a little more gas friendly. And if i had it for long enough, id probably want to swap a supra motor into it or something haha.

Damn its hard to find something clean with leather that doesnt look cheap or isnt already played out! That mercedes c220 in twin peaks is clean, but kahfae said they have some big issues, i dont want anything with too many issues, I already have a DSM!!!

I might go check out the bizzaro auction this weekend.

man i cant believe this shit..

SO i go through all the bs 2hours of going to auto return, then 850, then back to auto return, then to pier 70 then argue with them for 30 minutes, then finally get my stuff back from my altima.
Put the stuff in the trunk of my dads car and leave work early because of the pain i was in.
I get home, pop a vicodin and take a nap. My dad takes his car (which i never unloaded because my back hurt so bad) and goes to potrero hill to play ping pong at the rec center there. Someone breaks into his car (the first time in 15 years hes been going there) goes in the trunk, gets my amp, sub, 2 ipods, all my receipts for my altima that i needed to give to my insurance company, and worst of all, my girlfriends digital camera.

Everything else can be replaced, but the camera had a whole years worth of pictures on it. thats all im really concerned about... damn this sucks. What the hell did i do to deserve all of this bs that has happened lately. I want to grab my pistol and go drive around potrero hill projects and look for my shit, but that will only lead to more bad.

Who the hell would break into a stock ass 01 corolla with NOTHING inside the view from the windows. I mean base model freaking stock...

I'll be browsing craigslist for my stuff, but i highly doubt i'll find anything.

I also found a clean inifiniti g20 touring 5 speed with 125 k for 4grand and i was going to go pick it up 2m after work and the guy sold it today!! Fack!!!

i dont know man... The more i read about the g20's the more i liked.

I kind of already had a few things planned out for the car! haha

Im not in a super rush to get a car, but i liked the 5sp option for the g20, because its kind of underpowered so auto kind of sucks. But being underpowerd = better gas mileage (25-30). Those cars arent very common which is nice because you dont see them all over the place.


Ahh i dont know, im going to call this spot and see whats up with this car 2m. Pretty much same thing, but red, and it has 156k which kind of sucks.. oh well i'll see how much they want.

I dunno, Danny. A bright red car with rims, and it looks like it's lowered. That's kinda flashy for driving in a city where a stodgy corrolla gets broken into. A car like that is asking to be broken into. I'm thinking you need a stealth mobile, a car that says,' nothin going on here'.

Have you done a search using the phrase 'leather speed' and limit the price to 3000-5000? There's a few good cars that pop up everyday.

A quick tip for keeping your stereo. The stock radio/tape player in my 92 Talon is great for avoiding breakins because it's a big old tape player. I leave a cassette sticking out just in case theives peek in. I also got a country western cassette tape at a truckstop that has a big orange discount sticker on it, and I leave that in the center console where it's also visible from outside. Of course I never listen to it, it's just a decoy. The great thing about the stock stereo is that it's ipod compatible! There's a 'CD' jack/button to plug in the MP3 player so I get modern tunes. I just need new speakers, but that's a different story.

I called that spot today and they have already sold the g20.

I was driving around and i finally spotted one parked. So i hopped out and looked at it and i think its going to be WAY too small for me, its like up to my belly button and shorter than my old altima... If i were to sit in the drivers seat, id probably have to have my seat leaning on the seat behind me!!! haha, kind of defeats the 4-door purpose.


After work, i hit up a few used car lots to check out some cars since ive just been internet browsing, its nice to be able to see things in person to get a better perspective.

The volvo s60 looks quite nice, the leather seats that come with it are like sitting on a couch recliner! haha, i might fall asleep driving that car. There are a few on CL in the 4-5k range, the only thing i dont like is the stereo/climate control setup... kind of ugly and you couldnt really get a new deck in there cleanly. But they are comfy, supposed to have good power but good mileage, (havent driven one yet), great safety features, and pretty cool styling.
The S80 has more power and is bigger, but mileage suffers.
I wonder what it costs to maintain one of these cars....?

As of right now i could get anything, from a little old bucket, to something nice and luxury v6.
If its like a fwd 4cyl, id kind of lean towards getting a 5speed as it would make it a little more fun to drive, if i get something more luxury, id be more inclined to have auto trans to just roll. Ive been looking into some audi's as well, the 1.8t get pretty good gas mileage, nice interior, good looking and pretty clean. Im just not sure how reliable they are and how expensive/inexpensive they are to maintain.


Its kind of hard to make a decision, all of my other daily drivers have been hand-me-downs, so when it comes time to spend my money then im kind of at a loss as to what i should get haha!

Keep the suggestions comoing, anything that might look like a good deal PM me and i'll look into it, i dont want to clutter this thread with too much of my problems (until i break something at the track that is)

As for my build, it's coming along. Should finally have the short block this Monday. Head is nearly done at the shop. I should be able to start putting everything together soon. My S259 showed up yesterday. I was a little surprised to find out that it came with a 3" v-band instead of a 4 bolt outlet, which is fine, I prefer the v-band anyway.

I'm not ready to race yet. I'm chasing an odd tuning issue. I'm also thinking of converting to DS-map, which will take a while to learn. If I find the problem that's causing leaness and knock I'll probably go to the track just to see what the car can do. Plus I need to drop off a set of brakes up there soon.

One thing that's delaying me is that I just upgraded my internet service to 1mbs speed, so I'm spending more time on the net catching up on vids that I couldn't see before. There's some wacky messed up people on youtube. wtf

well heres my 2 cents....
my dd is a 98 audi 2.8 and i got it from my sister with like 160k it doesnt really have any problems, just the regular maintenance ish...its a nice b5, leather, 5-spd, 4 door......idk..if your into those, there cool,and quattro is nice b/c u dont have to change up your driving style cause your still AWD.....the 1.8(sport)and 2.8(lux) both average 20+mpg highway and town... the pre 2000 ones are kinda on the cheaper side now a days..
i'd suggest a jeep cherokee(XJ), but u said u wanted to upgrade not 4-wheel grade....

good info, i am into the audi a4's. Ive just kind of been shyed away by people telling me they arent too reliable and if they do break they are expensive to maintain.

haha, I think im just looking for a good economy car. Like an altima replacement. My insurance tried to offer me 1100 for my altima today, i laughed!!!

Im looking for something like $2000-$3500 at the most. If its under 2liters, id probably want a 5 speed so i can actually get somewhere quick haha. I dont want anything thats modded or beaten or raced, id like a grandma owned car haha.
