first off, i've read basic steps on how to port my o2 housing from vfaq.com . and have searched here

the article i read there left me with a few questions.

does it matter how even/uneven i port it out, or does it need to be perfect round and even all the way though? do i just start hacking away at the inside or what?

also, i have air tools, but am unsure of exactly what bit to get and where to get it.

it dont got to be perfect -- the more you can remove the more you can flow -( more or less )
ya need a carbit cutting bit.

dave must be pretty smart(his name is red) so i don't wanna chop him down but i think he ment a carbibe bit(not sure on spelling) they cost about 15-30 bucks, but get it or you will spend years.

be ready to spend alot of time, and don't rush it or cut to fast or it will work like shit.

also exhaust porting works way better if it is smooth, so when you are done clean it up with a sand stone bit, then i would use a bit that is like a circle and you can put on a little thing of sand paper and i would go from 80 grit and work up to about 300 or so.

it is time consuming as hell i would recomend just buying a tubular o2 housing, but port if you want :thumb:

well you typed it in wrong too, its a carbide bit you are after. i just ported the everloving shiznat out of my o2 housing and it made a massive difference in the stability of my boost. i get no creep at all and no spike during shifts either (a problem with my auto since day one on the stock t25) be prepared to spend a few hours on it but it really is not hard at all. my technique is to gouge a few deep channels into the steel then sweep the bit back and forth over that until its nice and smooth. be careful as the wastegate passage has a weird bend that is at the most restrictive part of the thing and its really thin walled to begin with. i ended up porting a hole straight through it heh.. i would have been screwed if we didnt have a welder sitting next to the grinder. open that wastegate up as big as you dare, smooth out the casting slop around the o2 sensor bung, take out the lip on the downpipe side and open up the turbo inlet sides as much as possible too. its a pain because of all the weird angles and thin walls but well worth it, best free mod ive done.

yea, a carbide bit is what was mentioned on vfaq.com .

so its ok for me to just chop the hell outta this thing eh? ill see what damage i can do maybe post pics of i do a nice job.

spln_hrd: its getting cold here but i havent seen snow yet. my buddy was in petosky last week and said it was snowing like mad on his drive home until about grayling or so. i almost kinda wanna make a trip north just to have a little fun in my awd :thumb: also what did you mean by
and don't rush it or cut to fast or it will work like shit.

and if i do end up messing it up, where would you recomend i buy a tubular o2 housing?, everywhere i have looked, i only find ext. dump ( :thumbdown too much noise) or the evo iii that doesnt fit on my n1 downpipe right, or some junk one from punishment racing LOL

thanks for the help thus far!

:talon:

its not possible to cut too fast on the cast steel of the o2 housing. its a long slow process, dont worry about it.. its really easy
