01 gt water pump gone bad

hey guys dont know if this belongs here or not but my friend has a 01 eclipse gt with the v6 3 litter engine...and it has a leak on the water pump and needs to be replaced but im just wondering do i need to do the timing belt when i replace the pump or is it just replacing the pump and your done.

I've never worked on the V6 found in those models, and this really isn't the right forum at all to be figuring this out, but you really ought to replace the timing belt after any type of contamination. Now, that should include antifreeze, but I think it's substances like oils that really break down the rubber in the belt.
 
Normally when doing a t-belt change, you would also do the waterpump. Just because you have everything off already, and you'll end up doing it sooner or later anyway.

As for doing a waterpump, I would also recommend doing the t-belt right away as well.
