91 talon tsi 2.0l
measured and re-measured on my engine and i came up with 3.3451" at the top of the cylinder just below the ring ridge and 3.3467" at the bottom of ring travel.

i was really hoping to put 95 pistons on my rods and put a complete rebuild kit with new main and rod bearings (clevitte) and rings without boring the engine. i plan on making 350 or more hp so if you guys who have experience with this could give me your opinion on whether i should have the engine bored, it would be greatly appreciated. i really dont know what kind of taper would be acceptable for a good reliable rebuild.

BTW the reason for rebuild is uneven compression. cylinder head has already be checked and the engine has 239000 kms (approx 150,000 miles)

thanks for your help.:laser:

Having that much taper it is recommended to bore it to the next size over especially since you will get a new set of pistons and rings. For a little over $100 you should have it bored with a Torque Plate to make sure you have round and on-size bores . You should also have the block degreased and the expansion plugs replaced to make sure you have a good starting point for your project.
You probably need to have the head done too.
Mitch.
