Looking into that after or if this one fails to go through, the 1.8 ratio in the PS housings will be a great thing to reproduce

2G DSM Manual Quick Rack Update

We’ve had some more names come in for the FIBA / Quaife 2G DSM Manual Quick Racks… but we still need a few more committed people to make this happen once again!

For those unfamiliar with what a “quick rack” actually is, here’s why these are such a big deal.

The quick rack changes the steering ratio from the factory 2.55 to an ultra-responsive 2.1 ratio — bringing it much closer to the steering feel many people love from the EVO platforms. In simple terms, less steering wheel input results in more steering angle at the wheels, giving the car a far more direct and connected feeling.

This isn’t just a modification… it completely changes the personality of the chassis.

So what does the manual quick rack actually offer?

Incredible steering feedback and road feel
Faster and more responsive steering input
Reduced weight and less parasitic drag on the engine
No hydraulic pump, lines, seals, or fluid maintenance
No leaking pumps destroying alternators
Long-term mechanical reliability with essentially zero maintenance

The result is a driving experience that feels raw, precise, connected, and confidence-inspiring. Many people who switch to manual racks say it feels like the car finally “talks” to the driver properly. Having that connection makes a huge difference.

And for those wanting to retain assisted steering, EPAS options are still available through another DSMer who originally helped produce conversion units for these setups. More and more owners are moving away from aging hydraulic systems and over to electric assist solutions for the flexibility and reliability benefits they offer.

At FIBA Motorsport, we are extremely proud to have brought these back around for another potential batch because parts like this simply do not exist anymore for the DSM platform. No one else will tackle projects like these.

However, this is also the reality of small-batch reproduction parts:

If this group buy does not complete, this will likely be the final attempt for the 2G DSM platform. Once gone, they are gone.

We currently have the ONLY remaining rack not installed into a car already — and honestly, it is starting to feel more like a museum/display piece at this point

After this, focus will move toward the upcoming 1G DSM manual rack program and future OEM+ development projects.

WELL!!! We did it!

Firstly, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been involved in making this happen.

Reaching the required numbers wasn't something that would happen overnight, and while we could have constantly pushed reminders, we wanted this to grow naturally through the community. Word of mouth has always been what FIBA Motorsport is about, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has shared, recommended us, and talked about what we do.

Now that the group buy is officially activated, we'll begin sending out the initial invoices based on each person's selected options. Once these have been settled, the production order will be placed with Quaife.

In the meantime, we'll start bringing in the steering rack cores so we can strip, inspect, and prepare them ahead of the rebuild process, helping everything move as smoothly as possible once the new components arrive.

Once the racks have been manufactured, imported, rebuilt, and are ready to ship, the final shipping invoices will be sent out. As mentioned in the product details, the import duty shown is an estimate only and may be slightly higher or lower once the shipment has arrived and cleared customs.

We're incredibly excited to get these back into production for the second batch.

We have a long wait from Quaife yet so nothing to report there.

I have a bunch of bearings and seals in and the CNC parts will be in sometime mid Sept.

I am currently moving house so once done I will then have the units being sent in for rebuild to come there to the new address.

If anyone wants to back out let me know. My power steering is giving me a heck of a time since putting in the Maher kit... If the design is to blame I can't be going through racks and pumps monthly...
