Bought a box of miscellaneous transmission parts awhile ago and trying to throw together a spare 3/4 setup and found these odd balls.

- #1, 2, 3 all fit small synchro and the "HD" 3/4 hub and slider. #4 does NOT.

- They do NOT fit double or single synchro for 2nd gear nor 93-96 3/4 large synchro.

- #1 has 3 lines, with skinny gears
- #2 has 2 lines with fat gears
- #3 has 3 lines with skinny gears
- #4 has 2 lines with fat gears
- #1&2 have the same teeth and diameter at 30 teeth.
- #1&2 have the same dog teeth
- #1&2 I don't believe are and HD 3rd due to lack of groove for sun gear snap ring.
- #1 looks to be the same as my "HD" 4th gear. But #2 has thicker gears?
- #3&4 have the same teeth and diameter at 33 teeth.
- #3&4 have different dog teeth (undercut?)


I don't have another 5th gear to compare but #3 looks like it might be 5th gear looking at old pictures? Or maybe these are 97-99 gears?

I don't keep teeth counts memorized, but looks like you have a early and late 4th, and a late and early small synchro 5th.

Would that be a '90 2nd? I'm not sure if there is a large AND small synchro 2nd gear. They're also smaller than smaller in diameter than the other single synchro 2nds. (Single synchro 2nd gear on bottom)

It doesn't fit either of the 2nd gear setups I have currently. (One single synchro large, and a double synchro)

Okay they seem to be:

1) late style 4th ( it's the same as the "HD" 4th I have so 91+?)
2) Early 4th? 1990 ?
3) Late 5th? 91+ ?
4) 1990 small synchro 5th gear ?

1) 1991.6-1992.5 AWD 4th gear with 3 marks
2) 1989-1991.5 AWD 4th gear with 2 evenly spaced marks
3) 1991.6-1999 AWD 5th gear with 3 offset marks
4) 1989-1991.5 AWD 5th gear with 2 offset marks

For 5th intermediate gears, if it has 2x marks on the teeth it matches to the 2x marks 1989-1991.5 AWD 5th gear (marks will have the same orientation as the input 5th gear). If it has 3 marks with the same orientation as the 5th input gear, it will be the matching 1991.6-1999 style 5th intermediate gear.
