2G 1995 GST OBD-II Scanner Brand Compatibility? Is 1995 4G63T 2G GST OBD-II a Myth? 😱

Hey guys, @LunaDSM here.

So I have been using this specific simple/cheap/low end OBD-II scanner way before I owned a 2g Eclipse.

Even though it is a low end scanner, it works on any car I have tried it on and it definitely serves its purpose.

The Launch Creader 3001 OBD-II Scanner....

A reliable scanner.. (until i tried it on my 2g 1995)

My 1995 Eclipse is equipped with an OBD-II port. Although it is not the OBD-II from 1996, I am wondering why this scanner does not work with my 2G.

I can't find a specific OBD-II scanner for 1995 vehicles (because there's probably NONE)

Does anyone of you experienced this with other scanner as well?

Which brand/model works with our 1995 Eclipse? (low end scanners just to read out codes)

Note: Honestly, I can't afford high end scanners. I just need a handy tool to read out codes (cause why not?)

This sounds stupid but how do I know if my OBD plug is working incorrectly?

I am assuming that it is working correctly since the scanner boots up no problem . (I get power from the socket)

I cant seem to find an OBD-II scanner that works on my 1995 4G63T eclipse.

Is OBD-II for 1995 eclipse a myth?

(Not all cars with OBD-II port are OBD-II Compliant)

Anyone who owns a 1995 4G63T Eclipse that can send me a link of an obd scanner that works?

(Not a shop scanner, for personal use only)

So from what I know you may have to get a obd 1 since the 95 is one of the early models technically and then you would need to either get a adapter from a obd 2 to a obd 1 or u could set your laptop up for ecmlink

2G - obd2 port not working.

Had my CEL come on today and went to advanced auto to get the code checked only to have their scanner not turn on when plugged in to the port in my car. Gonna try napa, autozone and oreileys to see if it was just the scanner. Anyone have any ideas as to my obd2 port not functioning?
