I’m not really sure on what section to post this in, so sorry in advance if it’s in the wrong section. I have a 1995 eagle talon tsi with a 6 bolt swap. The engine swap was done by MAPerformace back in 2007-2008. I just bought the car last December and they removed the ac belt and tensioner. Would I need to get a 1g or 2g tensioner? It’s got the giant metal bracket that’s sandwiched between the compressor and the block (idk if they both have that or not). And does anyone know where I could get the tensioner I need? Or know anyone that might have one and be willing to sell it?

6 bolt is a much larger more awkward bracket to install and is specific to the 6 bolt.

7 bolt is much smaller. Lighter and compact.

Since the 6 bolt had its own design for the engine your be best looking for that specific solution. You might try ebay or check millers as he has cars he breaks all the time. Another would be to place a WTB ad on the classifieds here on the forum

Thank you very much, Ill look around some more and more than likely post a WTB. Could you post a picture of the 6 bolt ac tensioner if you can find one? just to make sure that im looking at the right piece.

The two styles of A/C tensioner brackets, 1G and 2G (not 6-bolt and 7-bolt!), have very different mounting points.

What A/C compressor mounting bracket, the one that bolts to the block, do you have? The tensioner assembly should match.

I’m not too sure, I’ll try and take a look at it tomorrow, but from the pictures I’ve seen, the 1g should have 3 bolt holes for the tensioner, and the 2g should have 2 right?

The A/C compressor mounting bracket for both have 2 bolts for the tensioner pulley.

The 1G tensioner bracket has a third bolt hole to the left of the other two.
