First you have to remove the console as you would to put in a short shifter. Remember to remove the shift knob. Then remove all the bracket screws that hold in the shift boot. Do not destroy the old shift boot. Snip the stitches out and save the four triangle pieces of vinyl. The doughnut at the top will be needed as well. Use one of the four triangle pieces of vinyl as a pattern and trace it out onto the back of the material of your choice four times and cut them out. This is a good time to embroider one of the pieces. Then stitch the pieces back together starting at the doughnut. My white vinyl one looks great and has lasted four years with no signs of wear. Use cloth backed vinyl for best results.

Do you happen to have the pattern of the shift boot

I want to make mine out of shaggy gold carpet from the 60's and 70's. i am sure the pattern can be made from the old shift boot pretty easily

Your car is missing the shift boot? Like, none at all?

judging by his gallery, his car is automatic. he is probably planning to put a 5 speed shift knob in there with the boot. This has been discussed before in another thread. looks better then the stock auto shift knob

Yup I'm an automatic and already have a diffrent shift knob but i need a shift boot cause it looks ugly with out something covering the part of the shifter that used to be covered by the big automatic shift knob. so if any one could post a pattern for it or at least the measurements so i can make one, would be greatly appreciated
