We (eclipsetrbo420a, laser rs turbo (I think that's his name on here, anyways,) and myself) built Matt (eclipetrbo420a) his O2 housing dump tonight.

Took a few hours. Cut with a sawzall, carbon fiber cutting wheel, and a hacksaw at times. Welded with a gasless MIG welder.

Straight 2" piping, sounds raw.

Another quality product of Fat Boy Racing...

Awesome, looks like a good job. Thanks for the pics...I wanted to do that too, but I wanted to see pictures of the finished product first so I didn't mess mine up. Haha. Guess I know what I'm doing Christmas break!

Hey , guys I love it it sounds awesome! anyways I had an o2 housing here so i decided to do it. Im sure we wouldbe willing to make some more. :thumb:

So I guess you just like the noise of an open wastegate?

It was made to help with boost creep.

But yes, there are some people that (gasp) like the open wastegate noise.

LOL, mine was 50. gotta love the associate discount!

that o2 dump is sweet and it looks like you did some nice welds :thumb:

Looks good.

I predict that steel-to-cast iron weld will crack before too long, though. Welding cast parts without heat treating in an oven makes them brittle, and the heat cycling from the exhaust will complicate things more. :(

If it fails, cut it and grind it back down, then stick it in a self-cleaning oven set to 'clean' (which will heat it to about 900*F,) and take it out. Heat it up and keep it hot with a propane or MAPP torch, then weld it while still hot as possible. As soon as it's done, stick it back in the oven and let it cool slowly.

There are other methods as well - you can run a search on welding cast iron for more opinions. The method above has worked for me.

My O2 dump has been ran for months and hasn't cracked.

Just out of curiosity, how many months?

I'm not saying it'll crack anytime in the near near future, especially considering it's not bearing much load and only sees exhaust after the turbo has had its way with it. I'm just saying that typically, non heat-treated welds on cast pieces don't hold up well in the long haul. You could conceivably get a couple years, maybe more, of use from it without problems. It just won't be as reliable as say, an OEM part or a heat-treated part.

Gotta clamp it real tight, have super clean metal, and heat it up before properly welding if you want it to be quality. Otherwise you might as well tack it up and use jbweld.

Ask people who try to put wg's on stock manifolds. Works fine for a while, then turns into a damn nightmare.

Maybe 6 months? Besides, who keeps their car that long anyways? Between selling and upgrading, there's always something new.

I hear ya. :thumb:

If you wanted to go full MIG, another good cast welding technique is to use nickel welding wire, I've read.

just had to mention it LOL..........i kno i kno ill get around to it. and as for the weldnot holdint ifit falls off 7 months from now ill just do it again :thumb:
