Ok I'm running 215/35/19's on a 7.5 inch rim and they are beating the shit out of me. Now I really like the rim and the way it looks on the car and I want to run something wider and taller. They don't make a 235/40/19 so I was goin to go with 245/40/19's do you think they will fit the 7.5 rim? If I have to "bump" out or roll the fenders alittle I will. They suggest a 8" rim but I've seen people run crazy wheel tire combo before.

Actually, I mis-typed; they are "only" 26.7", but that's still crazy. (19" + 245mm*.40*2)

Sell the 19s and get 17s. This is the Handling forum. The only excuses for anything larger are huge brakes for road racing and/or 285/30/18s for autocrossing.

I don't really see how that's answering his question...

I'm running 225/40/18's which fit on my 8" wheel, I'm curious... When you say "...they're beating the shit out of me" does that mean you're looking for a "taller" tire or wider tire? A quick search on tirerack came up with some 225/35/19. This is wider then the 215's your running now and would have a better chance at fitting a 7.5" wheel then the 235 or 245's you were talking about earlier.

I'm pretty sure that w/ a 19" wheel you won't be able to run anything taller then a 35 series tire. Take a look at how much room you've got right now between the top of your tire and the upper control arm.

Please! It's pretty clear that his problem is the short sidewall and your suggestion of adding about a seventh of an inch isn't going to do a whole lot.

You want the look of 19s? That's cool. But live with the consequences, which include a lousy ride, lower performance, and snide comments in the Handling Forum.

Yoo hoo, Defiant. Put this baby to bed.

Ok the reason I put it in the handling section because there is'nt one for "stupid rim and tire" questions. I just wanted a simple answer which is what you gave me jtoby. The car is'nt run on the track and I was just looking for alternatives without having to fork out another 2k for new rims and tires.

And actually the car handles good as long as there is'nt any bumps or potholes in the road which is why I was hoping a wider and taller tire would help. I was looking at 235/35/19 which are 25.5" tall and 245/35/19 whick are 25.8" tall.

Sorry for asking stupid questions but rim and tire selection is like a black art to me.:beatentodeath:
