Toronto,
I really hope you guys read and advice me before I dump any more money fixing this beast.

Car 97 GSX
Miles: 85K (prob rolled back...)
I use 94 Sunoco Octane
Bought 3 weeks ago for 9100 USD
Tan Leather
5 Speed
Title is clean (ya right...)

Current Mods
Stock Turbo
Intake Filer
Turbo back exhaust (2.5” DP, 3” cat and 3”catback)
Greedy Type S BOV

I have more mods sitting in my garage but I want to get the car running good before I put them on, including my new FP BT28

Here are my current problems

One and main one is that this car eats half a tank for 100 KM (60 miles) so car drives for 200 KM (~120 miles) and eats FULL tank of gas.

Bought the car 3 weeks ago. Was driving fine and then after installing intake it was idling very bad and had no power. Putted stock intake pipe with aftermarket filter and it fixed the idling problem (prob leak somewhere). Before I changed the exhaust it was shaking @ WOT, had no power and fire was coming out of the tip (had test pipe).

Installed custom Turbo back exhaust with 3” CAT, still similar problem, it would backfire and shake @ WOT and had no power. Guys at the shop told me my secondary O2 was D/C and main O2 sensor was welded in to 02Housing and was fired. Btw my CEL is D/N too for some reason (even took out MSF and still no CEL)

2 Days ago plugged my secondary O2 sensor and car finally had its power back and would boot even @ WOT but still had just little hesitation sometimes. But it goes FAST now.

More problems:

Power steering pump, bearings are GONE and it’s on the angle (brakcing holding it is bended to the left) so when car is cold makes a VERY loud sound but goes away once warmed up. Still makes a metallic grinding sound when the car is on but very quite and when going from idle to 1200-RPM makes that sound again but not as loud. Past 1500 RPM no sound from it.

AC when tuned on, it’s not working but engine is revving little higher when @ idle

When car is warm and driving makes an unknown wired whining sound and when car slows down, tone goes down. (doesn’t matter what RPM engine is @)

Now when I start a car and it idles I see VERY little white smoke coming out of my exhaust. Not sure if it does when I drive it since it just started to happen.

Also before I plugged my secondary O2 when car idles for more then 2 min for some reason sometime my oil light start flashing on and off very fast (almost like contact is short-circuiting) but still idles fine @ 700 RPM… Since I plugged in my O2 it never happened again but then I didn’t drive car for too long after that, since I just imported it and my 10-day permit is expired. Talking about being royally fed over…

Now the white smoke I think could be a HG blown but TDK. Going to do compression check tomorrow to make sure. What I am wondering is could it be anything else because I heard that changing your head gasket going to cost me a lot of money…

Also my stock oil pressure gauge when @ idle its not in the middle but when the car drives or revs higher it goes back up to the middle.

Also I have SBR 2.5” O2 housing on the way and have brand new O2 sensor here but I was told if coolant is leaking it could damage my new O2 sensor so I have to fix that problem before I put it in. BUT if my current main o2 is fired I would never pass emissions here in Ontario.

So I am in a loop hole here again where I cant drive my car but I have to start somewhere so I at least I can register it here and get the damn plates. Not sure if these problems connected with each other any help with that white smoke and other things from you guys would be really appreciated.

Edit

Just took the car in a packing lot with my friend driving it and basically when the car was cold it had just little bit of white smoke come out and it stopped. When he took it for a drive there were no smoke coming out and he was shifting it @ 5500 RPM, maybe a little smong when shift gears but I think that’s normal after that when car was idling no smoke at all and no smoke in engine bay what so ever… After plugged in secondary O2 sensor it actually boots like hell… I donno if this helps but here it is

For 9100 USD I think you paid a little to much with these problems, but your in Canada so I don't know the currency change over there.

Fried o2 sensors on exaust can cause a lot of gas usage, my gst would only get 10 mpg when they were fried, went up to about 18 after fixed.

White smoke can be head gasket, compression should let you know for sure. I also had oil everywhere, in coolant and on the driveway. Get it up on stands and look to see if theres any oil leaking. HG job can cost a bit, but you can do it yourself for much cheaper.

Sound from power steering could be loose belts, seems a common problem.

Thats about all I know. Good luck with the car, you will need it. :dsm: Don't mind my profile, it only says N/T because thats the only one running lately... :sosad:

EDIT: And the oil guage, yes it is ok, there a shit anyways. Invest in oil pressure, boost, egt guages.

thx guys we shall see :) But the thing is that no oil no coolant nothing in the engine... I am putting my turbo on atm and half of the engine bay is empty now so i see everything it it seems fine... it could be that my o2 is gone... turbo is holding with 3 bolts (just found out that today:) and maybe some exhaust gaskets are blown but i am replacing em all.

When you take off the tired t25 check if it is blown, that can cause smoke, not sure exactly the color though. Have fun with new mods, heh.

Doesn't sound too bad except the gas mileage.

A little white smoke when first started is normal. As long as it doesn't keep smoking for too long.

Plugs and wires are really critical on these cars too, BTW. You should check into those.
