ok, well first i have white smoke coming out the exhaust when i hit the gas. second, my check engine light comes and goes. third, my car will kill itself sometimes, all accessory and lights stay on, its starts right back up, but just dies. the parking brake, srs and battery light come on when this happens. and my parking brake doesnt grab as well as it should (i know, prob loose cable). can ANYONE HELP! a buddy of mine suggested a bad turbo?

white smoke? i would say you are burnin coolant and your turbo is probably ok. i would do a compression test. does it overheat? possible the headgasket is goin but im not certain. the light thing happened to me and i ended up having a bad alternantor.

Im not very good with this kind of stuff, but as for the car stalling, im sure this will sound stupid but, i had a similar problem when i bought my car and it was just that the BOV was vented rather then dumping back into the intake, this caused the car to stall out after i went wide open on the throtle and then all my lights would come on to. all i did was get a 5 dolar hose and cut it to fit. I dont know if thats your problem to but just thought i would toss it out there.

well it's most likely your headgasket but could also be a blown turbo depending on the severity of the white smoke. If you have a blown mitsu turbo your car will totally encase the car behind you with smoke, but if its your headgasket it will probably be a lot lighter and definately not as thick of smoke. Ive been around dsms awhile i just never post here.

Go back and check the smoke again. Make sure that it isn't at all blue. If it is blue it is burning oil. If it isn't blue then it could be one of several things. Could be burning coolent, but you would smell a very unique smell. Sort of a burnt suger smell. Ckeck your coolent level. It could be that it is running to rich. There is a couple of places that if parts a broke extra gas could be getting into the intake. That is what happened my girl friend car, it was a small diafram. Doing a compresion test will not really help unless you have blue smoke. You might want to check all of your connection between you alternator and you battery. That you also cause your car to stall out. That would also explain your dash lights. That just happened to me. My brake light stayed on and the car started acting wrong. All it was was a lose bolt on the battery. Hope that helps.

thanks every1. i dont know if it would matter, but i am also getting like 15-16 mpg. there is no blue, it is white, and it definitley has a distinct smell to it. i thought it smelled a little sweet, and saw someone said that could be coolant/head gasket.
