WTS but took the air bags out...help?

how do you do what?

I heard there was a law that in the event when a vehicle was originally equipped with air bags, it is illegal to sell it without airbags present. Therefore I thought it was illegal to sell my car without functioning air bag equipment. is this true?

I hear lots of things, too, and I'll be damned if I can find anything about it on the web.

From what I understand, it's illegal to sell a car without Federally-mandated safety equipment if you're a dealer. I don't know if they have reign over private sellers or not.

Just find a customer who appreciates having the goddamned bombs out of their face.

Look on ebay. I always see airbags (both driver and passenger) for Eclipses and Talons. They aren't that much money. If you're really worried, after you install them, take the car to the dealer and have them inspect the srs system, for piece of mind.

Okay, maybe I should have given more details on what I was looking for. I have taken both of the air bags AND the SRS brain out of the car. I want to know if it is legal for me to sell the car as is. (without buying replacement air bags)???

make the buyer sign off on it... " show car blah blah.... i understand this car no longer has air bags "

As long as the buyer is aware you are oki. Make em sign something so it does not come back and bite you.

There are decals that some places put on the dash that say the ARS/SRS system has been removed and not replaced ( My Altima has one). You might try to find one of those decals and just put on the dash somewhere.

It affects insurance on the car, and also affects the value of your car (the buyer does not know if you took em out or it is a chop job).

Hope that helps.

When they buy the car, let them know that the car has no airbag. Then have them sign a release of liability. That way you arent responsible for any injury that could be done by not having airbags. And it is illegal to remove any saftey device in your car. If you search long enough, everything is illegal.
