I appreciate all your help guys...if you can email your comments/suggestions to [email protected] or [email protected] . THANKS -Chris  :talon:

black smoke is usually from running extremely rich or a boost leak.
white smoke is usually from coolant burning so this could mean you have a blown head gasket. i suggest u find another shop cause any "real" mechanic should be able to tell you wats goin on.

Please attempt to type legibly and use descriptive thread titles. I promise you will get better results that way.

I doubt anyone could solve the problem from that description. Have a better shop look it over. I would start with a compression and leakdown test.

If the car is puffing black smoke, That means it is running rich. Puffing black smoke can be caused by a number of things.

Spark plugs, Spark plug wires, Clogged air filter, timing..

White smoke is caused by coolant. It doesnt mean that you have a blown head gasket, It can be puffing white smoke if you are running at a high boost level, have an air pocket in your coolant system, Blown head gasket.

there are a number of things, Did the shop check any of these? If the shop doesnt know what they are doing then why did you take the car there in the first place?

Enjoy your vacation.

HAHA!! Nice reply Lando..

Anywho.. What EXACTLY is the card doing other than "smoking"? White "smoke" can be caused by condensation in the exhaust. Check to see if it smells sweet like coolant.
And are you sure the "black" smoke is really black? It could be your old leaky valve stem seals causing oil to burn off.

What other symptoms do you have? Loss of fluids? Loss of power? Rough running? Missing at idle or decel/accel?

Please list all of the problems that you are having and that will help us diagnose the problem.
