Ok, so I went to go to work today and everything started fine, until I went to go into second. My entire shifter is sloppy and there is no feel for any gear, I can barely get into any gear at all, and if I do its luck. My shifter cables seem to be fine, cause those were the first things I checked( they move how they are supposed to while shifting and sitting still). When I have the car in neutral, the shifter looks and seems like it is in third gear. I have had grinding issues with second for a while, my syncros are shot, but nothing like this. I drove the car on friday and it drove fine. Then I didn't drive it at all on saturday, so it was parked in gear all day, and it got really cold. Then today, it took a shit. I have no clue on whats wrong. Could it have something to do with the cold?
Anyway, I had planned on haveing the tranny rebuilt, but not right now. Oh, and for about the past week or so I have noticed that when I first start to go forward or reverse, there seemed to be a "binding" noise coming from the rear. Does this have anything to do with it? Any help would be VERY MUCH appreciated.
Thanks,
Perry

Took my car up to Cottman Transmition for a free inspection and they found that the cable bracket on the side of the tranny had lost all of its bolts, which in turn bent the bracket, not allowing the cables to work properly. Now my car shifts amazingly, and the grinding going into second is almost eliminated( my syncros are still bad of course). My car grabs gears so much better now, even better than the day I bought it, over a year ago.
I hope this post helps anyone who is having shifting problems.
