The car is a 92 Talon with a 1990 JDM vr4 switchable trans/tcase. The car drives fine most of the time, grinding when shifting hard into some gears, slightly grinding when downshifting into gears sometimes. At times when I get in it to start it it won't go into gear at all, the shifter is binded and I can't even move the shift levers with my hand. If I start the car and get it rolling a little by someone pushing it and then try and shift into gear it will go. I know there are differences between the 90 shift levers/shift cable mount and shifter mount vs. the 92 stuff but I don't think this would cuase such a problem as a binding trans. I truely don't think its internal trans problems because sometimes the trans shifts like total butter but I do think its something major, anyone have similar problems or could at least steer me in the right direction? The clutch is bleed, the slave cylinder is moving perfect.

First of all it sounds like your clutch needs bled. I would check to make sure you don't have any leaks at the master cylinder/lines/slave cylinder. If your master cylinder is full then you probably just need to bleed the system.

Grinding is usually synchros. If it's the original trans, remember they are 15 years old. Synchro replacement is pretty involved and unless you are very versed in manual transmissions, I would not attempt it. Take it to a transmission shop. You can try synchromesh fluid first and see if that helps. If it does, bully for you. If not, well, you know where you stand.

They also make the metallic shifter bearings. This gets rid of the rubber mounted bushings and helps take some slack out of your shifter.

Perhaps a combination of the above can help you somewhat.

Hopefully the trans won't have to come out.

Good Luck
