ELECTRICAL EXPERT HELP NEEDED

Ok, I officially have reached the biggest 'WTF' of my entire build. This has happened to me before, but I never really thought too much about it, and now I am completely stumped!

I was working on my car again today, and I decided that to be productive, I should try hooking up the logger again and seeing what codes come up with my MAF hooked up.

Well, I couldn't get the logger to connect (Serial comm Error) which was odd, but I did notice that my previous largest problem was back, and this time worse!

After turning the key to the on position, this horrible clicking and sparking sound happens repitively. I immediately thought, "WTF is this all about?"

Just like last time this happened, my Karmann readings on my SAFC started going nuts! The numbers were bouncing around from 3hz to 500hz and going insane. Everytime the numbers bounced, the clicking sound would start from the center console, and the sparking sound would come from the engine bay. Also, the clicking sound was loud by the fuel pump.

I started to look around my car and diagnose the sound. After touching the MPI relay, I realized that it was the cause of my obnoxious clicking. It was literally clicking and shaking compulsively. After that, I went into the engine bay and tried to hear the other sound. I noticed it was coming from the area where I had the coilpack hooked up (spark plug wires not connected yet)

Right after I put my hand on the coilpack, a blue flame/spark shot straight out ! "WTF" I thought again.

Ok, unless my car is truly possessed, do any experts want to try and help diagnose this issue. Things like this make me want to stay the #### away from the car!

The clicking noises your hearing are solenoid tripping. I'd start off by check your ECU since your getting mulitple solenoids. Double check all connections and grounds.

I recently had the same problem and it turned out to be my ECU. Somehow my EPROM chip had wiggled away from the base.

*BEWARE* of of the coil pack next time ;) I've been shocked enough times by it.

Well next time I am free I will go rip open the Eprom and see if the chip fell out.

I am not so sure that this is the issue however, as I have 2 other ECU's and I am pretty sure I have tried different ones. I have a '91 ECU in the car right now, despite it being a '90 car and wiring harness. I already switched the 2 pins on the ECU harness but I haven't switched to a '91 PTM, so I understand I will be expecting Tachometer problems. These issues don't seem to be related however.

If it is not the Ecu, what else could it be.

Ha yeah most likely...No the car is not running though and the problems have not ceased.

Relating to this problem, my Eprom Ecu doesn't seem to work when plugged in? Whenever I have it plugged in, my CEL stays off and the SAFC doesn't light up, a sure sign!

So I plugged my '91 non-eprom in and poof! Everything works as it should :mad:WTF

____________

My major problems now are my 3 active codes; TPS, Barometric Sensor and Coolant temp sensor (?)

I am running a 2g MAF, which is hardwired correctly (same harness from my last car). I thought if it was a bad MAF it would throw other codes too?

Then, I am running a '90 throttle body and TPS, but like I said, the TPS doesn't seem to be working. I was told the TPS was good, and I am not really sure how else to check it, so I am very confused here. I am looking up and down for a new TPS but no dice.

The coolant temp sensor, well, beats me?
