Hello, I installed the evo16g ported in my car along with a slowboy racing exhaust manifold and I also installed the boost gauge and boost controller from slowboyracing too, now the problem that I get is that the boost controller is set all the way down and the damn turbo boosts up to 20psi is that supposed to be the lowest setting for the sbr boost controller??? any one with some info would be appreciated, thanks

How did you hook up the mbc? No the slowboys mbc's are not set for 20psi and higher. You could have a vacuum line hooked up wrong?

I think I have everything hooked right, as I did follow the instruccions from vfaq.com and http://www.plymouthlaser.com/joep.htm I dunno what could be wrong, maybe the vacum lines are wrong on it the boost controller has two fittings and the upper fitting I plugged to the wastegate, and the lower to the bov is that right?

I would recommend trying reversing the lines off the MBC. I know that not all boost controllers have the same nipples hooked up to the same lines. For instance, the joep mbc has the wastegate on the bottom nipple where the turboxs one has the side nipple on the wastegate. This might just be one of those nuances.

Just in case, here's a link off slowboy for boost controller. http://www.slowboyracing.com/Boost Contollers/MBC_hookup.html

And just my two cents, just use a line from the turbo->mbc->wastegate. Don't tee into the bov. That just caused more problems for me when I did it. :thumb:

Disable your mbc and connect the source directly to the actuator. If it still does the same, you have boost creep.

The fitting with the ball pressed up against it is the one that goes to the boost source the other one goes to the wastegate. Sean

do you have t-split from the bov to mbc, and manifold? Take the mbc, and blow thru it, try adjusting the mbc to see what happens. If you can always blow air thru it, then there something wrong with the mbc.

yeh, I have the T-fitting on the bov line so It might be a faulty mbc.

does anyone have a sbr mbc??? I ask this question because one of the fittings has a lil hole on the side

it's the upper fitting (the one going to the wastegate) that has a lil drilled hole

do anyone of you guys think that is boost creep?? before I installed the mbc the turbo was just boostin' ok, I was running that turbo for about two months now, I installed the mbc today, and the boost gauge 6 days ago so I guess there's something wrong with the mbc any one had the same problems before?,

If you're sure the mbc is hooked up correctly, try what I suggested. I'm having the same thing right now. My turbine and o2 housing is off right now, I just have to find time to port them. From my search two weeks back, creeping seem to be a common problem with the evo16g. I know you said the turbo is ported, check out this thread

It might help you.

your mbc is backwards most likely. just switch it and be careful when you drive it the first time. unless you hammer it without watching the gauge you wont hurt anything.

but with an Ebay MBC. I've reversed the lines, and tried moving the screw as far in as i could (if you move it in to far it pushes the spring into the side passage), but it still just shoots past 15PSI. What in the heck is going on?

If you follow taboo speed shops vac line delete it should work perfectly. I had a few vac lines crossed up when I did it, fixed it and it worked fine.

Ok guys I switchd' the vac hoses to stock(took the mbc off) and the car now boosts up to normal, I do not know what tha hell is the problem, I tryed to switch the hoses arround and it still wouldn't work, by the way the reg psi is about 10.5 and now I did some screwing arround with set-up, ok, here's what I did, I hooked the mbc the way it was supposed to be and I put a hose from the wastegate to the nipple in the pipe that goes out-the turbo and in between that hose I T'd it to the BoV and I did cut the hose (the hose that goes form the wastegate to the turbo outlet pipe) to plug the boost solenoid(the stock boost part) and BANG the turbo is giving me 12-13 PSI its better than 10.5 right???? LoL

so maybe if I turn the mbc up It will boost more, but I'm fine with 12-13 psi :thumb:

You did what? Do you have the line from the BOV to the intake T'd? You have the 3rd line running to the bottom of the MBC right (the side opposite the screw that the ball is against)? Then on the side port you have that running to the wastegate and that one has the little bleeder hole in it right?

This isn't rocket science, this should be straight forward....post a pic if you have one. When I hook up my old bleeder style MBC it works fine.

Thanks
