Ok, description of the problem... A couple months ago I was getting on the interstate, boosting about 12psi for like 10 seconds between 3rd and 4th gear. Let off on the gas, and a few secs later saw a HUGE plume of grey/whitish smoke coming from my exhaust that lasted about 5 seconds before it burnt off, after that no smoke. I tried again, boosting high, and saw the same results. I figured it was the turbo going, so...
I just installed a new evo 16g, 2g exh mani, ported o2 housing, full 2.5" catless exhaust, 650cc injectors, GM MAFT w/UICP. After driving it a bit and checking to make sure it wasn't running lean I did a 12 psi run and guess what... More smoke!!!!!!! ARGH!@ Only smokes after boosting or revving high for sustained periods of time, absolutely no smoke at idle or partial throttle, 160psi compression across the board, perfect vac.
So what could be the problem?? Engine just had new exhaust side seals and a new valve cover gasket installed about 6 months ago. Smoke looks like some coolant maybe cuz it's pretty white, there's an oily residue in my UICP that looks more like.. well, oil. A friend of mine that helped me install my stuff noticed that I had the valve cover breather capped off with a rubber end, so we replaced that with a seperate filter, he said that could have been causing the problem... But I dunno.
Anyone hear of this before, or have any suggestions?? Thanks!!!
