My car is far from being tuned enough to race anything but my friend has a wrx with 227 hp. Yesterday he hit me up for a race and I told him when I get my car tuned. Has anyone with a 420a turbo been able to smoke a wrx or should I just back out?????

Bench racing is a big :nono: :notgood: just go to the tracks and find out who is faster.

i think the sti has like 300 hp
this is no sti

and I would rather bench race then blow my motor trying to beat something I cant

Stock WRX's (non- Sti) put down around 160+whp, they lose alot because of thier AWD, I have seen a few dyno's and was suprised. They run out of power badly up top, so race him from a roll, and you might just have the upper hand.

Id say it might be tough to pull ahead. I mean, a stock turbo has 210, and thats with the cars transmission setup from the factory with the correct gear ratios. Since your car was originally N/A it is gonna effect your potential a tad. But you can always find out.

What are you talking about? If you fear of blowing your motor, find the problem and fix it so you can have a safe reliable car. (don't race him)

If anything, pulling ahead will be his easiest task, it's the launch that will get him, AWD>FWD of course. But considering the dyno chart just posted, seeing that the WRX has about 160 WHP the 420a should be putting down a bit more than that now that it's turbo'd.

There are too many variable to figure out who would win, driver skill is the biggest variable there is. I know people who cut 2.5 60' with FWD and I know some people that cut 2.0' with stock tires, it all depends on the drivers and what is done to both cars. Who ever stated that WRX's have 160AWHP making fun of them, guess what, a 100% stock DSM puts around 160AWHP I have a magazine on it dynoing a 100% stock DSM being like 158AWHP and being like WTF then I realized that almost all cars are rated crank HP and not WHP.

the problem is 420a motors were not designed for turbo

Since when do they make a non turbo WRX?
They make non turbo wrx's, they're just not called wrx's, they're the impreza 2.5 rs. Now back to the original post, get your car to its tip top shape before you lose so then there will be no excuses. If you lose, in the back of your mind you'd just be thinkin, man if my car was tuned i would so take him.

oh and i wish i still had my stock fpr and my third wish would be for no boost leaks....

You're car is in no condition to take place in a race. If you do, and it blows, don't cry.

How much boost are you running. Let me re-phrase..How much boost does your gauge read?

well my greddy e0-1 reads 7psi and so does the glow gauge

Bench racing will not keep you from blowing your engine. Learning how to tune your engine can.

This is not the website to come to, to bench race.

Take your car to the track on a test and tune night and get a good tune on it. Then invite your WRX buddy to the track and race him.
