Im rocking mine. Im still rocking the speakers that were made in 1986 as well. There is no dry rot and they still hit lows good enough to viberate my rear view mirror a little bit. My 1994 came with stock 6x9's in the rear. I dont know if that was common but every DSM I owned even my 1993 eclipse only had 6.75" speakers in the rear.

Correction my raido was made in 1993. My bad on the first post I made. I was going on memory and probably got the speakers and radio dates mixed up. My radio is 1993 and my speakers are 1986.
 
yeah i blew all my interiors in mine so i upgraded... (jus like everything else on this car) LOL & i didnt want the rears to stick out like that but i got a good deal on them & the color matches really well.
 
i took the speakers out to inspect them and the look and feel like new. but on the bottom the date of manufacture says 1986. I was like WTF and they still hit and sound this great. Gotta love mitsu but gotta hate the stock rediculousely high OHMS ratings on them. ROFL
 
I disagree. I pulled the motor out of a 1990 GSX at the junkyard, had the external oil cooler, odd ball throttle body, transmission and abs. I wish i could remember if it was LSD but from what you guys say it couldnt be, so it probably wasnt. I remeber this because the car seemed to be fully loaded, it had abs, leather seats, i was thinking why couldnt i have just bought this car. I made off with the motor and transmission, and external oil cooler.

There must have been a very few of the 90's that have a late build date. I suppose if someone is wanting a fully loaded car and they're buying brand new the dealership will do what it can.
 
^^ Did that laser come with the interior mounted 3rd light with the wing as well from the factory? It kinda looks like the eclipse wing was put on it by the owner.

its a 90 laser rs turbo with a wing, my buddy didnt do it but a previous owner most likely did


90's had abs, it was either abs or lsd not both
 
The speakers varied quite a bit depending on which audio option you got.

The two high end radios from Mitsu (cassette w/equalizer and cassette w/CD) got the 3.5" dash, 5.25" door, and 6"x9" in the rear. The standard AM/FM/Tape had the 6.5" in the rear. On the cars with both dash and front door speakers they ran them in parallel so the speakers were either 8 or 6 ohms each so the radio saw a 4 or 3 ohm load on all four channels.
 
Rocking the CD/Tape/AMFM combo myself. Was excited to find it as it is going in my red car at some point. Gonna restore the red car to be All OEM appearance wise.

Probably have it setting on gr-2 shocks and some suspension tweaks with a 2.3L and 16g. Just need to find some OEM 1g talon wheels.

I may even fork over the bills to get a new disc reader put in it so that it will at least play burnt cds. If not something wilder while keeping it stock looking.

I want one of those talon radio block off plates soooooooooooo bad.

Its not hard, just find a parts car - look for the TALON nameplate on the door-sill plastic thing, and take it off and put on a black piece of plastic cut to fit.

Wow....I'm ashamed of my car now. Mine is more used and abused than a $2 hooker on half price night next to your car.

Where'd you get that neat gauge cup that holds whatever gauge (can't see, too small) you have on your steering wheel? How'd you get the engine bay so clean??

Again, my car fails next to that. Typical beat up used and abused Talon.....

To me it isnt as nice as it looks in pictures. Does have a few dings, bubbles on the front fenders. My hood up close is terrible, I really need to just invest in a CF one or something.

The interior hasn't been that clean for awhile ever since I removed my rear seats + headliner. Headliner was drooping and the seats were just a weight reduction in my quest for 12's back in may. They're finally going back in here after the 3rd.

Honestly on the gauge cup, I don't know where it came from as it was from the previous owner. However I've seen the cups for sale on different sites before. Call ImportEvolution to see if they have them - thats where the previous owner of my car works.

The engine bay, it was kept tidy by the previous owner with a lot(maybe too much) stuff removed for a 'clean' look. It used to look better without the throttle cable on the top, as well as a few other things that I've re-done simply because they hurt me more than helped.

Other then that, just Simple Green, engine degreaser, Injen plug cover, and my heat shield that isnt even attached :p all goes well together.

How did you determine it was a 1990? The production date sticker on the door jamb? Cars built in mid to late 1990 are 1991 models.
 
You're correct. ABS was not available until model year 1991.

Wrong, my 1990 Talon TSI AWD had ABS. I remember that I had to order the specific Dave Brode UICP for a car with ABS. This was back in 2004, I sure do miss that car it was a 1 owner before me.
 
WOW!!!!!! Everyone got hostile on the ABS on a 1990 in a hurry. No offence to anyone I'm not meaning anything in a bad way. For some oddreason my ABS was kicking in during mild to heavy braking today. I have no clue why or what but it was a straight stop and my tires are all new and I was on 3 week old fresh pavement. Im beginning to hate the ABS and am thinking of unplugging the controll unit LOL.

This is not a DSM but anyone who really knows a car will know what this is. I found a cuda convertable in the junk yard today. Its just rusting out like all the other cars there. It stil has all the origional rims and hub caps, the 426 hemi is still in there and looks ok but who knows. These cars are rare and I would give anything to have it because I could get it restored and barret jackson it for a couple hundred thousand dollars.

The guy wont get rid of it thow. He came up with every excuse possible on why. He said its to muddy and the bobcat will get stuck, there are way to many cars in the way, he cant find any paperwork on it. Ill give him the way to many cars in the way because you have to weave your way on foot threw about 200 or more cars to get to it. He told me on a nice and not muddy day that I can have it for $500. I doubt that it will happen thow. He really has no clue what hes got sitting there in his yard. But I did score 3 turbos today for $15 for all of them. They came off of cummins trucks. It looks like a T4 flange thow :(. I have TD05H. Can anyone tell me what model of turbo they might be? they all were on trucks that has a manuel trans exept one was an automatic. They all have no shaft play at all but I have no clue if they smoke or not or if there in need of new seals. The one on the automatic looks to be brand new. The engine is all dirty but the turbo was sparkly clean.

And here is the super nice back seat. Looked like new when I got the car. I was able to "break it in" last Thursday :)

Wrong. I went and dug out my original sales brochures for the 1990 Eagle Talon and 1990 Eclipse, and there is no mention of ABS anywhere.
 
I don't know if its rare or not but my 90 Tsi had 6.5" speakers in the rear instead of 6x9's and had no speakers in the doors when I got it. The door panels didn't even have the grills in them. I've still got the rear 6.5" baskets too. I've never seen one like this before or since.
 
I don't have pictures to post but my 91 TSi AWD I got with 67,000 miles - now it has 72,000 miles.
I have the window sticker, original manual, eagle keychain with the dealer name engraved on it.

Have that trunk cover/board thing still in perfect shape. I also have the sunroof bag!!!
It has a factory stereo system /w cd player that works great!!

I have TALON floor mats too that came with the car, the person I got it from was the original owner and she said she only had them in the car for the first 10k - they're mint!!!
 
Would the factory deck with the equlizer on it be considered rare?

I don't think so. I have about 4 of them in my basement.
