How do you like your DSM

Maybe rare in the sense of how many survive but every factory sunroof car came with the bag, sunshade, and wind deflector.

I figured not many have survived. I gotta see if a good local friend wants it first but if he doesn't was going to throw it up for sale. It's all in great shape just needs to be vacuumed.
 
I managed to save a good amount of my original parts. My sun roof deflector, bag, sun roof shade (super rare I believe) cargo strap, interior 3rd brake light, and my now tattered OEM floor mats. I was very lucky with my laser. The person who bought it in feb 1990 immediately went to Iraq and the car sat for 4 years. When I picked it up it was unmolested with 32000 miles. I've spent a few bucks rectifying my own past discressions (aftermarket shift knob and misc gauge placement) but appearance wise, the car looks showroom original and I love it that way. In 14 years of ownership and a total of 109000 miles I've managed to keep it all together. The engine bay is another story, but I have almost every part that's been removed. Anyone still have their BCS???

I dont know if its rare but I was reading my chiltons over again to keep my dsm building knowlege and specs tip top. I knoticed that there is a 3rd brake light mounting location on all of the 1G hatches. I have never sceen an interior mounted 3rd brake light on a 1G. Is it just a wingless laser thing or what? Does anyone have an interior mounted oem 3rd brake light on a 1G?
Yup mine has one, wingless laser. This is a pic of my car before i bought it. Pretty much the same minus i ditched the wiper.

^ Thank-you Gooberlog. Hey I remember you. I think I sold you the slave cyl. But anyway thank you for posting the picture of the wingless laser. I think the lasers hatch struts last alot longer than the eclipse's and talon's do because of less weight. I know the wing on them weighs the HELLO out of the hatch.
 
Does anyone know if factory ABS and LSD on a 1g DSM is rare. It sounds funny to me. Wont stopping on tire while all the other ones are moving cause damage to my driveline?

91 Was the only year you couldn't have both an LSD and abs. It was one or the other. But from 92 on up it didn't matter. I think it had something to do with the abs computer not being able to cope with the rear lsd? Not too sure...
 
90 and 91 you had to choose between rear LSD or ABS. In 92 they changed the ABS system so it would work with having a VC in the rear diff. What the dealership told me back in the day was they added an additional channel to the ABS computer but I never looked in depth at the ABS system to know if that was really the case. Like airbags, ABS wasn't something I wanted in my car.
 
I found a set of THOSE ones locally, however the TALON was faded, I was pissed. Ugh.

No, these are laser flaps, but still!

A buddy and I found a set of the Talon flaps at a U-Pull-It here in Denver but ditched them at the check-out counter because they wanted $8 a piece. Whoops, should of held on to those...

Are you sure abs was an option in 1990? I thought it was unavailable until 91 on up. I'm probably wrong though...

No I'm no longer sure. It's been 20+ years and I never really cared much about early ABS systems. There is nothing in the 90 FSM about ABS and so while I think I remember seeing ABS actuators in 90 cars I could have been dreaming.

Anyway the bottom line is still that LSD and ABS weren't available together until 92.

Lol, for sure. What do DSMer's bicker about? Things like which year abs came out for 1g's....LOL

Wow....I'm ashamed of my car now. Mine is more used and abused than a $2 hooker on half price night next to your car. :coy:

Where'd you get that neat gauge cup that holds whatever gauge (can't see, too small) you have on your steering wheel? How'd you get the engine bay so clean??

Again, my car fails next to that. Typical beat up used and abused Talon.....

I think almost every 2Ga DSM with the no wing or lay low wings had the interior mounted oem 3rd brake light. I'm talking about the 1g's all of the 1g's LOL. I have never seen them on a 1G at all.

As for the rear cargo cover lift strap. Is it a bungie cord style thing or no stretch solid rope? Can you measure it and tell me how long the cord is? I need a set for my 94 talon. My cargo cover is made of fiberglass that I molded from the origional wooden one. It started to get bent so I molded it and put the origional one away in the rafters of the garage to save it.

IF ANYONE HAS A PICTURE OF AN INTERIOR MOUNDED OEM 1G 3rd BRAKE LIGHT IN A 1g PLEASE POST A PICTURE OF IT.

Woah, I thought if a 1g had a factory spoiler it has the 3rd brake light on the spoiler. That's pretty crazy unless it's been in a body shop before...
 
^^ Did that laser come with the interior mounted 3rd light with the wing as well from the factory? It kinda looks like the eclipse wing was put on it by the owner.
 
You're correct. ABS was not available until model year 1991.

I disagree. I pulled the motor out of a 1990 GSX at the junkyard, had the external oil cooler, odd ball throttle body, transmission and abs. I wish i could remember if it was LSD but from what you guys say it couldnt be, so it probably wasnt. I remeber this because the car seemed to be fully loaded, it had abs, leather seats, i was thinking why couldnt i have just bought this car. I made off with the motor and transmission, and external oil cooler.
 
I have two 2g cupholders that go in the center console. I also have a 12 page 1997 Eagle Talon brocure given to potential customers at the dealership and the 1997 Talon service manual set. you dont see those every day
 
Ive never seen any1 else still rockin the STOCK Head unit, Tape Deck/CD player. all in perfect working condition ;)
