Would you or would you not flip sh*t?

Somewhere along the procession of life's path, men who become "parents" turn stupid. I guess it's partly from finding out what marriage really is (or, isn't), and generally just going numb instead of setting out on a killing spree.
Somehow, even the most dedicated and seasoned motorhead just loses his way, and just stops caring about the things that used to matter most.

Never trust anything you really care about to a dad, and especially not to your own.

Be glad it was just overspray. When my dad borrowed my six-months-of-restoration sports car to drive to work, it came back with a door ding that looked like it had been shot with a .38.

It wouldn't be normal to not react omotionally to the situation, unless you're a vegetable. I hope I don't have to explain it. How someone actually handles the situation determines their maturity or lack thereof. The rest is details and responsibility.

Just because the old man raised a son, doesn't mean the old man can simply sh*t on his offspring. We're not wild forest animals. The old man has a responsibility raising his offspring and getting it ready for the real world. PERIOD. Otherwise, he has no business of fathering a child.

I hope the old man has a sense of responsibility, realizes he did a dumb a** thing by removing tape (he should have known better--he's the old man, remember?) and owns up to the damage, fixing the situation.

People that mention generation differences need to be reminded that it's 2008 and people are actually getting more intelligent, not dumber. What happened in different, way-back-then era, doesn't always apply in a more civilized society where people no longer lead their lives like wild forest animals. I understand that more civilized ways of life nowadays fills you older folks with envy, but it's not new-era's fault. Just because you suffered what ever it is you suffered, doesn't mean the rest of humanity needs to suffer from it for the rest of the human history.

you got to be kidding me son you are in for a world of hurt when you have to get out your own.2008 you man up to your responsibiltys and don't whine and place blame on others just had a kid 21 yrs old working for me nothing was ever his fault.i had enough and fired him.it seems the younger generation never wants to take resposibilty for there actions and get through life as easy as possible i can hire an older guy and they work out fine never miss always there but the early twenties late couple times a week and i hear either no one told me or not my job.those to phrease will set you packing in a hurry.i would really like to see where you found the "your genration" is more civilized therory:rolleyes:ROFL

you'll find out cars and toys are fun but mean very little don't let a piece of metal be your sole focus in life. That car can be gone tomorrow also your dad can be gone tommorow which one means more to you.

Why are people ragging on him about this? He was upset and kinda vented on here, but he's already stated that the conversation between him and his father went fine. Oh and don't get me started about the "well back when i was..."

Point is your not..times are different now.I'm 23 divorced and a father...Take care of my responsibilities just fine...But I can't speak for some of you "older" people who when I get them at my work, and give them SIMPLE tasks to follow...they're like a lost puppy...So,not all "young people" are clueless, irresponsible, mooching til they're 30...etc...../rant

to the guy that got his car jacked up go to the auto parts store and pick up some acetone this will prob take all the overspray very quickly then just buff her out we have dumbasses all the time that drive over the fresh yellow road paint and thats how we get it it off if there is any on the windshield some very fine steel wool will take car of it.for buffing grab a magiures red buff pad be careful some people can burn the paint with it then finish off with the gray waffle pad you can also use the mist and shine in this process to get a really nice finish job.we charge around $300 for this kind of job.good luck

I'd love to type up a reply, but I can't follow your keyboard gibberish. Sorry.

i think your mommy is calling you:D

Top-notch, ultimate Southern cowboy insult? Clever.

Sorry, I'm not from the South, not someone you're looking to fire or your wife, so it's not working on me.

Thinking of it, last time mommy insults were spectacular is when my friends and I were 13-years-old.

I'm sorry that your daddy kicked you out of the home at a young age, but I guess that's how things tend to be down South sometimes. Sometimes... :D

Some of us aren't so lucky that we could serve. I enlisted in the Navy and they saw a problem in me right away, I didn't make it a month before they kicked me out when we found I had a mild case of Hemophilia.

As far as who I am and where I live? My tools stay with my parents (My father uses MY tools to build his aircraft), however I live in a college town. I work full time, I'm in class full time, and this month is hell because I'm running one charitable event here this next weekend which I'm taking my car to and I'm working with another event that starts the 20th of this month. Like I said, I have from 6pm - sleep this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (when my parts come in) to finish homework and work on my car. To the guy who does body work for a living, I don't care how long it takes you because it's going to take me longer. I don't have the same equipment as you (I do have some decent stuff) and I don't do this day in and day out. The last thing I needed at this point in time was a reason to have to completely go down my car with compound, polish, glaze, and wax.

He can't cut me off from his money supply because I don't rely on him for it in the first place. He can't deny me access to one of the garage stalls with my tools because he needs my tools to stay with him so he can work on his own projects. I have two garages (not a two stall garage) where I live right now and would be perfectly fine with storing all my tools where I'm at now but I keep them an hour away so he can use them.

Sure that's fine and dandy that he raised me, he's my father and I will always love him, but the fact of the matter is that this wasn't an accident where something went wrong and the seal broke, rather the byproduct of being lazy and breaking the seal himself, and not resealing the room for paint. Honestly if I knew this was going to happen, I would have taken some of my tools and done this in my own garage. Like I said, the only reason I'm using his garage is because he's still using my tools for the airplane he's been building.

It's fantastic that half the people here automatically assume he's doing anything for me at the moment and not the other way around.

Edit :

The only good response I've seen in this thread as of yet.

Cars come and go, but you only get one father.
