All of my tools are in my fathers garage and attached to that garage is a shop (he lets me use the garage when I need it). Right now he had a tarp going between the shop door and the garages because he's painting in there. I helped him put the tarp up and I made sure it was 100% sealed. I haven't been in or out of the shop so I assumed it had stayed that way. Come to find out he took all the tape off around there so he could get in and out without going outside.

I go downstairs to work on my car and it REEKS of paint in the garage, the first thing I do is rub my hand across my car and I confirm the worst, over spray from bumper to bumper. I've spent thousands and thousands of dollars to keep the body of my car in its current shape. Afterwards, we settled down and had a calm face to face talk, but am I justified for flipping sh*t like I have never flipped sh*t before? I know I will be able to get the stuff off (I've got more money in detailing equipment than most people spend in tools) but it's going to take me forever to remove it all.

Let me know when you cruise up to CR. I want to see your car! And yes, FLIP IT!

Your car looks immaculate so I'm guessing that you have already done a lot of work to it. I'll jump to the end, now you have something to do!!

now you have something to do!!

Yeah, fantastic... Considering the car is not running at the moment, I wont have everything until Wednesday, I work and go to school next week Wednesday through Friday (from 8a-6p), and Saturday I need the car for a charity event I've been setting up for almost a year.

So I have Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm until sleep to do homework and change my valve stem seals, do a timing belt and components, balance shaft elimination, rebuild the oil pump, change out an axle, and put my car completely back together so Friday night after class I can wash, compound, polish, glaze, and rewax my car so I can get up at 6 in the morning the next day to make sure the event goes smoothly.

yaaaaayyy... Like it wasn't hard enough in the first place.

Dude, it's your dad. I'm sure he's sorry. No need to flip shit.

Yeah, that's why we talked normally and both apologized afterwards. I wrote this and I was still pissed about the whole thing, I'm still not happy in the least bit but... damnit.

You can do it! Remember it's a DSM they made them easy to work on for this very reason! LOL

Damn your stupid dad for letting your borrow his garage, helping create you, and feeding and taking care of you your whole life.

if you don't like it move out and buy your own house and garage.he's letting you use his stuff and if your stuff gets in the way of his projects thats your problem.if you flipped on me i would push it out in the street and tell you to get it off my property:notgood:

^^These guys are right^^^ and you are wrong, dead wrong.

Eh, I wrote a bunch of crap about entitlements and disrespect and appreciation and crap, but I realized that I was writing in anger and disgust. So I took the high road and deleted it like an adult would.

Be an adult.

Agreed,
also, if you think about it. he's let you use his garage all this time and saved you the heartache of dealing with a mechanic or working in conditions, so from my standpoint looks like you guys are even.

PS. there is a putty substance that comes with a cleaning solution that will remove all imperfections from clear coat, works absalutely awesome, i got it from checker (shucks)
its lipe blue clay looking stuff. works awesome.

It's called claybar. LOL

Of course you can flip out! I mean if you hadn't flipped about this what kind of person would you be?? A person that does not take pride in what they do or care about their things. A person that doesn't recognize hard work (especially their own). Had I done that to someone I'd have been apologizing left and right. As for being "even"... oh WTF? You never agreed to use all that space so that one day he could just mess up your car. If that was the case then I'm sure you'd have never agreed to it. So yeah, I'd have flipped $hit. Bad. It's not a matter of being right or wrong on whether you should or shouldnt' have. It's a matter of understanding WHY you flipped out and seeing that it was a reasonable reaction. But more important was that you both sat down and apologized while having a face to face talk and seeing that it was both of your responsibilities to have a good talk. Maybe he'll help you fix some of the damage, maybe not. Personally I'd try to help you out if it was my fault.

he can pay to have the car fixed you can repay him for raising feeding you buying your clothes ect...your prob into him well over half a million dollars compared to your 5k dsm.be thankfull your father is cool and storing your car free of charge.he didn't agree to leave the car there it was prob the only place he had.in the end it's just a car worth no more than 5k tops.keep things in prespective

I have seen your car in person, and those pictures do little justice. The thing is a work of perfection, although i never did see underneath the hood. Just do what you can and restore the thing to its proper beauty.

To anybody that responded negatively towards me. Go ahead and tell me you've never raised your voice to or questioned the authority of your parents. You do that for me and I'll show you a liar.

I've already stated we apologized to each other and sat down and talked about this like in a constructive manner, what else is there to do?

we are in a different generation.i would have had my ass beaten and would be looking for another place to live.your generation is alot softer and think they are entitled to things.you dad is just that your dad not your buddy be thankful your living under his roof and not in a van down by the river.

If your dad admitted he was sorry and it was an accident I would expect him to at least help fix the paint. As far as man to man goes he should definently respect something as impaortant as another man's car, if you live with him or not, So i am guessing he just wasn't thinking. It is normal to get pissed about something like that, especially a paint job as mint as yours.

this isn't a man to man situation this a man to boy deal you can pretty much tell the age of people by the postings.his dad owes him nothing he should prob be already out of the house and out of his dads hair by now but for some reason kids these days just don't move out and stay home into thier early 20s.a man has resposibiltys and more than likely have to worry about more than just him self they have familys to raise bills to pay taxes ect...and most of you are pissing and moaning about a car that no matter how nice isn't worth more the 5k.now i paint and do body work for a living a good buffer and some rubbing compond you can do the whole car in two hours or just a good saterday morning.i had one of my kids scratch the pis out of one of my cars with a metal rake "should i throw a temper tantrum?"no i said #### i should have put the rake someplace where she couldn't get it and fixed the car.shit happens but a man will know how to deal with it

Exaclty, if his Dad had a problem with him being there, It would be his responsibility to send him packing. He obviously has not done so, so that has nothing to do with it. Plus he may pay rent, we don't know the specifics. There should always be respect of others property.
