Would an safc and pump benefit me much?

I logged my car the other day, and it appears I am just about maxing out my injectors. Under full boost, my IDC is from 91-98 ish. Sometimes spiking to 101.

I am also experiencing some knock, which seems to be related to my boost creep which i am working on fixing. My knock will peak at 16-17 counts with timing from 14-17. I have virtually no knock up until about 5500, when i creep from 12-15ish psi.

I am running a stock pump right now and am wondering if a 190 would help me with the IDC or knock problems? Also would I benefit much from getting an safc with the stock injectors?

*I will work on posting the logs for everyone later.* Mods are in my profile.

Thanks in advance,
Shane

An S-AFC is usually for making your engine run properly with injectors that are larger than stock. In your situation, with an injector duty cycle of 101%, there really is nowhere to go but down, which will lean out your air/fuel mixture and make your knock problems even worse. It wouldn't really make much sense in your situation to install the S-AFC yet since there wouldn't be much you can do with it.

The Walbro 190 fuel pump will help keep the knock situation under control by supplying more fuel to the injectors, but that's not going to lower your IDC. If you're sure that you have no intake or manifold leaks, then your next step is a set of larger injectors. Once you have some larger injectors installed, then you'll be ready for the S-AFC.

In the meantime, you should look into re-wiring your fuel pump to draw it's power directly from the battery. That should help a bit with any fuel starvation issues you have at the top end of the rev range.

Ya i kinda figured an safc wouldnt help me much. I really dont want to go with bigger injectors, because then I am able to throw a new turbo on. And i dont want to because I can 't stop modding! haha.

I do plan on throwing in a 190 tho. I want to run as much boost as I can on pump with little knock as possible. But then again, who doesn't? LOL

I'd throw the injectors in anway. The 14B is a good turbo that many people end up pulling before it's really reached its potential with the proper supporting mods and proper tuning. You'd be suprised at what that turbo can put out once it has some good equpment supporting it.

Oh i know the 14b is a pretty decent turbo. id love to port it, get some 550s, safc, arp head studs, mls headgasket, more boost and tune it. But i spend way too much money on the car as it is LOL. Plus I need a clutch soon :(

definatly, you can get some fuel injector clinic 650cc's for 280$ (thats what i paid), and did you ever hit fuel cut when you hit 95-101 injdc? i hit fuel cut at 95injdc , but i have the 90 ecu and my fuel trims range from 80-120 while yours ranges from 60-140, i guess that could have something to do with it. , i would say fic 650cc's maf translator, and 190 rewired :thumb: and if you want to use the afc instead of maft then thats great too, or use them both! hell thats what im doing! :p

having a bigger pump and no afpr will raise your fp by a few lbs thus lowering your idc's at higher throttle/rpm. I've ran a pump and afc with 650s on a 14b w/ no knock and 22psi.
