So, i bought the car with the belt already disconnected from the A/C. and i was thinking if its worth actually keeping the A/C compressor and hoses in there or should i just remove it? Would you think that the gain would be worth it? And I really don't care for having A/C in the summer time. Just want to know if its actually a big difference for the engine. Always open to all ideas! thanks

I got mine from someone who had already taken it out. I dont plan on ever putting it back in for the sole reason of space. I like a cleaner looking engine bay with not much wire and hoses running around. Its not worth it to me when I can have the windows down, but then again, I don't go anywhere where I will have to sit in traffic.

personally would ditch it when you start to heavily mod the car. mine was locked up so i ditched it along with power steering because the pump was leaking LOL....and gotta love cruiseing with the windows down anyways LOL

I can't add much that hasn't been mentioned by others before, but I'll add two perspectives for your consideration:

1. The entire AC system (in a 2G, at least) weighs about 40 lbs. with all the lines and stuff, the heaviest of which is the compressor itself. The AC condensor isn't that heavy actually. So, if you care about lowest possible weight for your full-race car, of course you'd ditch it.

2. The AC compressor is clutched, so when you're not using it you're actually not losing any power.
