worst built tranny ever

I just got a jdm tranny put in and its only been about a month and already it grinds if I upshift or downshift fast into 2nd gear. It is also leaking tranny fluid. Do I have the right to take it back where I got it from and demand a proper working one? Any thoughts or suggestions would help

If they didn't offer you a warranty then I doubt that they will do anything for you but it's worth a phone call. I wouldn't come off all pissed about it either I would just explain to them what it's doing and see if they could give you a different one.

I recently had tranny trouble inmy '93AWD and was given a # to call in Ca. for one of their rannies. I passed as I do not like used. Question though. I believe these trannies come from Japan but what exactly does JDM stand for?

i know a guy thats on his 4th jdm tranny in 9 months. but he has a warranty and just keeps getting them replaced at no cost. i guess they suck?

For one they generally have 40K or more on them. Two, they are driven in probably one of the highest traffic areas of the world, which equates to more shifts than normal throughout it's life. So, a tranny with 40K coming out of Japan would be like a tranny with 100K+ here in the states.

Just because it's JDM doesn't mean it's new.
