I need to know the dry weight of the fwd turbo tranny. Also, who would have the best deal for shipping. I have never shipped anything of this nature before so any help would be useful. another question. will a 92 tsi tranny bolt up to a early90 turboed 4g63? as far as linkage is concerned. Thanks

I shipped my 91 FWD Turbo tranny by FedEx, and I think it cost me $56 (Wisconsin to Shepherd Racing). You have to pack it well, because FedEx will inspect your packaging job if you insure it for what it is worth. I wouldn't use UPS, because every time I have shipped something large with them it has arrived looking like it had been through a rock crusher. I don't remember the dry weight off hand, but it is under the FedEx ground limit so you don't need to worry.

I believe FWD trannies weight around 100lbs or so, while awd is 120 I believe. Use the search button and find out.

Yes a 92 tranny will work in a 90, but you need to change the shifter cables/shifter to 91-94 cables and shfter.

Being that the 90 has a different throw at the tranny and the shifter. The cables have different part #'s between the 90, and 91-94.

while searching for a new tranny recently I saw someone who shipped an awd tranny that weighed 135lbs with fedex and paid 42 bucks from newyork to ohio.

When I took my tranny out for a clutch swap, I lifted it up and it seems fairly light. Maybe around 90lbs or so. But this is my 2g FWD with no fluids inside so I'm not sure how much different a 1g is.
