So i finally got my car running today and i saw something that has never happened before. I notice the car was idling lean and while trying to tune it i saw my exhaust manifold glowing from the heat.

I know that its suppose to get really hot, but is it suppose to get that hot? And should i be worried. I have heard stories where a friend of mine had an exhaust manifold break while he was driving.

Typically, a glowing manifold is a result of running very lean, or your base-timing is off. Was it glowing from just an idle? Or after many hard WOT pulls? After a few hard pulls, a cast manifold glowing isn't out-of-the-ordinary. E.G.T.s can also rise from running very rich. I haven't seen that happen personally, but I've read about people having that happen.

Verify your base-timing is correct and make sure your fuel-systme is properly working.

i had it on idle only. Its a new jdm motor and it used to be the 4g64. I finally got the motor to start, but with a couple vacuum issue wich causes the motor to shut off. The motor also shits off when i hard press the gas pedal but not when i gradually press it.

i do have a wideband. At idle the car mostly stays rich, but when i saw it glowing it was as lean as it gets.

i havent taken it for a spin yet, but it the next step once i tune.

The last thing i'd be worried about is a manifold.

Either your A/F or base timing is WAY off.

Read your plugs before you do anything else.

timing was checked 5minutes after the motor was turned on and its on point. Imma shoot with the A/F. Im having it tuned tomorrow to see if that will make it work.
