MY 93 eclipse seems to be running on only 2 cylinders when I give it fuel. But when I let off it runs on all 4. I have changed the fuel regulator, the ecu, the injectors are fine, I tried a dif coil, the plugs seem to be fine, i put in new wires. I recently started it one morning and it sounded like a lawn mower. I could drive it, but it was really slow and sounded terrible. SO we also changed the fuel filter considering it might be clogged and once we did that it didnt seem to have enough balls to go at all now. The fuel pump works but idk maybe it doesnt have enough pressure or the wiring is bad. And the cat is not clogged.

Pull the vaccum sorce to the valve and plug it with your finger, if it idles fine with you plugging it with your finger then thats your problem.

OK unfortunately the egr was not the prob. to the post above no I didnt have a check engine on although I do now, but im pretty sure it was do to taking my exhaust off which it still is from when I was seeing if the cat was clogged. Could the timing belt have skipped maybe? how would I know if that was the case

The Egr is good...When I press the gas it will not rev up, it will but at an extremely slow rate if at all. And the TPS is good also.

I was going to say the same thing. It sounds exactly like cylinder misfire. I'm not sure, does the 1g ECU throw a code for that?

I get cylinder misfire pretty often when starting cold. One thing that I've noticed is that fresh plugs with a tight gap seems to *almost* eliminate it. It's still there, but it doesn't run rough for nearly as long as it used to.

I run about .026" gap because I find that it's pretty easy for boost to blow the gap out if it's around .029" or higher.

My misfire goes away before the car is fully heated up. I don't consider it to be a problem because you really shouldn't drive the car before it's warm anyway. And it's not throwing a code either (it seems like it usually takes a while for the ECU to throw the code).

Sigh... I'm not retyping the same reply that I just typed. You didn't have to make two threads.

Short answer: check the plug gaps and try running a little bit smaller if they're not already .028" or smaller.

Another thing you might consider (which wasn't in my other reply): My Suzuki Swift was running crappy on a brand new set of spark plugs. Let's just say that it was the last time I'll ever put Accel plugs into a car (they were recommended to me). One of the plugs was sporadically shorting out to some nearby metal.
