Yesterday while driving my car I noticed that it won't accelerate to 7000 rpm, rather it stays at 5500rpm. The car has new plugs NGK 7ES, wires, fuel and air filter, new alternator, battery.....

The car is running stock exhaust and cat, stock 14b turbo and 10psi boost, it doesn't feel like a fuel cut it just feels like it won't accelerate any futher. You can also feel it pulsating like it wants to go then it holds back but it doesn't jerk violently or feels like fuel cut. It just feels like 5500 is the max rev. Car doesn't missfire, idles perfectly @ 800rpm no up and downs.

I'm thinking that the bloody fuel filter got clogged, or the guy at the gas station gave me crappy regular gas (my english sucks) or a clogged cat. Any feedback will help, let me know what you guys think.

know I have a loud tapping, it seems like lifters but doesn't want to go away, infact it gets worst as time passes. seems to be comin from the area around cylinder number 4.

Ok, so I started troubleshooting, checked the valves, spun the engine didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Nothing there, then I put the cover on then I checked the knock again after adding valve and lifter cleaner usually it would go away, however it sounded like something was loose near number 4. So I drained the oil and noticed lil shinny copper colored metal shavings I pulled the transfer case and oil pan. Pulled number 4 rod bearing first of one of the bolts was loser than the other (never messed with before at least not by me) then there were big pieces of shaving (copper maybe) Luckily there were no scrapes on the crank on number 4, but the bearings are shut not rough to the touch but burnt...

WTF causes rod knock, could it be poor gas, oil , how much boost on stock fuel system?

Timing is perfect recently changed the timing belt, I do have a boost leak and in the wrong place.... grrr a dry-rot wastegate hose....

No aftermarket gauges, only things I have changed are cams (used 272) I broke my stock cam , bigger fuel filter, bigger plug wires, NGK plugs, balance shaft elimination, that's all I guess
