wiring help

i got some gauges that i wanna wire better, right now i got them wired straight to the fuse box and they come on when i turn the key but i want to wire them so they come on when i turn on my headlights where do i have to wire them to get this to happen?

does the stereo have a wire that turn on the illumination when you turn on the headlights. Would that work?

I'm curious to.....

well i got a different head unit and that comes on with the key. i just think it would be less "nig-rigged" if i took the time to wire it correctly instead of fuse boxing it. make it seem like i actually cared enough to do it right.

Oh. But won't the wire still be there on your wiring harness.

You could wire it into your dash lights.
Then it would only come on when you turn the lights on.
that's how mine are.

thats what i wanna do but im not quite sure what wires and what not i am supposed to connect to. im horrible at wiring and i dont wanna wind um messing crap up

I used the wires for the light around the cig lighter. Easy to do and my gauge lights come on with my dash lights!

and you have a 2g! your exactly what im looking for how exactly do i wire it up to my cig lighter?

just splice the wires that goes to the cig lighter light, not the cig lighter itself.
this will let you use the dimmer also, to get the gauges how bright you like em

its what i did with my car, fairly simple and easy.
