Ok guys I know that 90 to 91 wiring has been talked about alot on here but I couldnt find anything about my concern.I just recently bought a 91 tsi roller and I had planned on putting all of my 90 parts in it.Problem is the previous owner drilled through the firewall and drilled clean through the wiring harness. And they also cut 6 wires at the ecu plug and attempted to solder them back with the precision of a 4 yr old.So I was just wondering if I can swap the whole engine harness from my 90? I know its a sob to swap the whole harness but I dont wanna use that hacked up 91 harness. Thanks guys

Most of the connectors under the hood are different from 90-91, the CAS,TPS, ISC, ignition transistor and coil pack are all different plugs but if you are using your 90 parts with the 90 harness you shouldn't have any problems. You will have to keep your 90 cluster because the 90 coil pack has the tacho adapter built in it. I'm sure that covers it but I could have missed something.

If you are keeping the 91 ECU and using the 90 harness you will have to swap pins 6 & 14. Vfaq has a good pin out diagram on our ECU's
