My passenger window makes a loud rattling noise every time i close my door. after removing the door panel, I found this is due to the rear bottom bolt/flat nut that holds the window on the regulator assembly to be very loose.

Im trying to tighten the nut/bolt but am having a hard time doing so because the "nut" part is flat (maybe 1-2mm thick), about the size of a .50 cent piece and has 4 small holes around the outside which makes me believe I need some sort of key or special tool to tighten it. I got it semi tight using tiny pliers but its not at tight as it should, window still makes some noise when closing the door but its MUCH better than before...

Does anyone know what type of key/tool I need to tighten down this flat "nut" with 4 holes in it? Ive attached a photo for reference from a service manual. The flat nut is what i tried to draw with the 4 holes, the center circle is where the bolt goes in from the other side which is very easy to get to (10mm)

I would take the window out so you have enough room to tighten it from the back. Just take the top trimming of and angle the window and it should come out. I'm barely putting my car back together and that's what I did.

thanks for the advice guys, yeah idk how your supposed to tighten it ALL the way down without a key/special tool. I did it by hand but it keeps spinning and has maybe 1/8' left until its all the way down... I think I'm just going to order some small 90* needle nose pliers or something, i think that might do the trick

I got a little confused with what you were talking about, for some reason I thought you needed info on a special tool to hold the back side of it. You can just use your hand for the back and then you can use a 10mm wrench to tighten the front. Here's a picture I just took, this is on the railing and not on the window put its pretty much the same thing.

Thats exactly what I'm referring to! I tried holding it down with my hand and can only get it so tight as it just spins when using a 10mm on the access side... maybe the window was replaced at some point & the owner before me installed it wrong because the flat nut with holes in your photo is on the other side of the glass on my car.... Closing the door with window half way up/down is MUCH quieter now than before though.....At least taking the door panels off is super easy LOL
