Hi guys, I'm new here and I need some help...

I know it has been done before on differant cars e.g. Top Secret Supra

Well, I have a spare VR4 headlight, and I'm wanting to give it a go!

Anyone have any ideas on method and tools to use?

I want to cut out the inner lens which is highbeam only -so that I can still use low beam at night. I know this isn't road legal but do I really care?

:)

^ Get what I mean?

Thanks guys :)

I still got high beams in the bottom of the bumper. Aren't in the above picture but if you're smart enough I'm sure you could visualise them :)

If I put it in the oven, what kind of damage am I expecting? What temparature? What time? etc.

Thanks :)

i think it looks sweet .. i did that on my 90 gst for the same functional reason. I like it.

Got any pictures of the end product?

I have seen it done on 2Gs so the process can't be much different. The pass through was a piece of PVC pipe. If I remember correctly the guy just cut a hole through the lense with a hole saw and cleaned it up with a dremel. Epoxied the pvc tube in and made it so the cap on the back still worked so it could be blocked of from rain if need be.

Oh right excellent. This was the type of response I was looking for :)

Still can't get the lens off though :(

Haha :D

as far as temp 225 is safe 250 is almost as safe but much more effective.

I'd say if you want to go rectangular use abs sheet... you can form it with a propane torch to follwo almost any contour...
but i'd say cut the lense first, then bake the light so you can form the abs thru the hole, and then jsut trim it flush, sillycone it in (or plastiweld it) and I'd say get the crappiest light you can find to do it on!

I'm sure the gains on this are great for the cold air but living out in freaking oklahoma :barf: I gotta have my brights or hit a damn deer everytime I go around a corner. I just take out my headlight when I'm at the track but now they are making a new rule about having to keep in your headlights at the track that I run so maybe I'll get a spare headlight and try this....kinda scared to demolish a 2gb headlight LOL all the 2ga guys will get mad LOL

In Auckland we don't have animals running around :) And I live in the city :p

My oh my... That looks freakin' excellent!

Nice job! Exactly what I'm looking for :)

Thanks, heres the list of what I used. 1 length of Abs plastic tubing, Fiberglass, Resin, Bondo, Sandpaper, Primer, Paint, Clear coat. I cut the hole with a dremel. It will consume a lot more air if you can make the entrance into any sort of funnel shape, similar to mine. If it is just a smooth flush tube mounted in the headlight it won't have air being forced in like a funnel inlet will.

Yup, you can see where mine starts to funnel in. Thats where the cut was made, as big as possible. I set my oven to 180 degrees farenheight by the way. Put the headlight on for a couple minutes pulled out removed the clips and it came apart like nothing. To reassemble put it back in the oven to soften the glue.

i dont know how on a 1ga but
